It's something I've known about for a some time too, and I've reported some
of them as a misdirected bounce type of spam item. I'm firmly of the
opinion that a mail to news gateway should not be misdirecting one's own
posts back to an original sender which does not originate from the mailing
list itself.
Gerry knows about the problem too, I'm hoping he can tell us more about what
is so special about receiving one's own posts that we *have* to receive
them!
(Not a LUGNET admin, just a lurker and very occasional poster.)
FWIW, Gerry could easily change the header format and artificially "break"
the news server's habit of listing the original poster's From address, and
simply tack on an X-line containing it further down in the headers. IMHO,
all such mailings from the mail to news gateway should be going back to the
LUGNET server, which has the responsibility of handling bounces.
