  Re: LUGNET Posting Policy Update

(...) Sure, np - I wasn't trying to second-guess, just to guess what it was actually set to, since news-by-mail doesn't reflect that, and I wasn't feeling adventerous enough to look up the msg itself on the server. (...) Right, the process seems ok, (...) (20 years ago, 28-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.terms)

  Re: LUGNET Posting Policy Update

(...) Kelly set .terms on purpose, by the precedent that Suz set when she announced ((URL) the "New Policy on Bickering in LUGNET Newsgroups", not by mistake. I've reset the FUT there to keep things together (there is already another followup there) (...) (20 years ago, 28-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.terms)

  Re: LUGNET Posting Policy Update

(I'm trying to guess where the FUT was supposed to be - .admin.general?) (...) I think this is a good idea (not just the accoutnability, but the whole suspension bit). But I'm trying to understand the technical details - when someone is suspended, (...) (20 years ago, 28-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  LUGNET Posting Policy Update

LUGNET administration has always had the ability to temporarily or permanently suspend the posting privileges of a user or member. In the past this has been only very rarely used. The mechanism for doing so was such that only Todd (or for a time, (...) (20 years ago, 28-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.terms, lugnet.announce, lugnet.general, FTX) !!

  Re: New spotlight weights( was Re: LDraw shortcut images in FTX

(...) Well, yeah. (...) To be honest, I don't think there should be one either, but essentially that's what the system is doing right now anyway. Whoever decided that "all posts to .lego should be -1" and "all posts to .color should be -2" clearly (...) (20 years ago, 27-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New spotlight weights

(...) I think I agree. (...) I'm not sure I like this idea - here we are all AFOLs, I see no reason to treat official TLC announcements any different. If we get the rankings right, there should be no need. (...) I would be fairly strongly against (...) (20 years ago, 27-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New spotlight weights( was Re: LDraw shortcut images in FTX

(...) The weights today are global, there is no facility for an admin to adjust weights on a post other than by voting him or herself (or not voting). Nor do I think there should be one. I honestly enjoy some of the debating and whatnot too, but you (...) (20 years ago, 27-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New spotlight weights( was Re: LDraw shortcut images in FTX

(...) Huh! So-- if Jake made an announcement about, say, new bulk pack sets in "klassik grey" (or if new colors were switched back to old) and posted to .announce, .color, and .lego, the net result would be a -1 default? I think I like all of the (...) (20 years ago, 27-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  New spotlight weights( was Re: LDraw shortcut images in FTX

(...) There will no doubt be a formal announcement for this, well, maybe this is it. Here are what I think the current weights are: [ ".announce" => 2 ], [ ".moc" => 3 ], # Net effect +5 [ ".admin" => -1 ], [ ".off-topic" => -1 ], [ ".debate" => -4 (...)   Re: LDraw shortcut images in FTX

(...) I believe (as ROSCO mentinoed) that these FTX shortcuts use the Partsref pictures, which have not been updated at least for a 2-3 years, and afaik, there is currently no plan to continue updateing them. (...) Interesting. Cool even! That would (...) (20 years ago, 27-Dec-04, to lugnet.admin.general)
