Re: More old LUGNET homepage prototypes discovered

(...) Well, they read text, but only after they've determined what it's going to be about (so to know if it's worth reading). A block of text without a header is unlikely to be read. (...) I don't agree with having a navigation bar on the left. It's (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: We are back up

(...) Hmmm, I've tried all of those ports as well and none of them work. I've been using 1119 since 119 got shut down and it's only since the downtime yesterday I've been having problems. I get the same "connection refused" on all of them except for (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New homepage for LUGNET

(...) IMO, CLSOT(whatever) should have it's own newsgroup for announcing reviews, suggesting sites, encouraging voting, and discussing winners. --Bram (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.publish.html, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: New homepage for LUGNET

(...) How about using different styles of minifigs to represent different themes? A Classic Space minifig for lugnet.space; a knight for lugnet.castle; etc. (...) Yes--LUGNet should be more of a portal to the other online community sites. I think (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.publish.html, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: More old LUGNET homepage prototypes discovered

(...) The flags look good, but what are they supposed to do? Often when a row of flags appears on a website, it is for selecting a language. But instead, no matter which flag you click on, you get lugnet.loc. I think the flags only make sense if (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

Re: More old LUGNET homepage prototypes discovered

I like the blue headers on the #3 pages: (URL) solid colors across the page on the top gives the site a solid feel. The blue shades are inviting and friendly, and the flags are awesome (they also make the site inviting and freindly) ! I also like (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: We are back up

(...) Woo-hoo! Todd, thanks for the frequent updates yesterday. So often when a site is down it is just a mystery, but I went back 3 times yesterday and each time I saw a different message about the progress of getting lugnet back up. At one point (...)   Re: We are back up

(...) I just went through all of the 'legal' ports, and of 119, 1119, 8000, 8080, only 1119 works. I understand that 119 was turned off because of the attacks sometime back, but 8000 worked until the most recent downtime. Cary (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: We are back up

(...) I'm using port 8000, and it doesn't work for me either. Cary (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: We are back up

(...) Works for me. What port are you using? (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: We are back up

(...) ... (...) The NNTP server doesn't seem to be accepting connections (I get "10061 connection refused" errors). (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: More old LUGNET homepage prototypes discovered

(...) I like the flags. :) Add a bit of colour without making the page too 'busy.' Plus they add to that international feel. Someone suggested they be linked to the individual .loc groups - good idea. I think my favorites are #2 and #2a, for a (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New homepage for LUGNET

Hi Todd, (...) looking through these now twice I think the current home page quite good (better than these alternatives), so don't change too much.   Re: New homepage for LUGNET

(...) I've always woundered why lugnet.com never was lug.net instead? It's registered now (by CIA but I can't find any homepage at (URL) or (URL) but has it always been? In the same line, 3Com should have (URL) wanted to register lug.se but some (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.publish.html, lugnet.general)

Re: More old LUGNET homepage prototypes discovered

(...) It was THAT long ago?! wow. Funny thing: I just found the color printouts of these same pages! Poor Todd, I had marked them up w/my comments and they were so harsh! dear, oh dear. I have other drafts as well, and some new ideas. For the very (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: New homepage for LUGNET

(...) As most webpages have the navigation/menu on the left hand side, there's where I expect to find it if I need it.
