  Re: ghost posts

(...) Oh my, that's no good. Hmm, the file that tracks per-group article counts for outgoing email seems to have gone wrong -- it was actually empty, which caused it to start emailing everything out again from scratch (back to 1998, or whatever was (...)   Re: New subgroup for .org.it.itlug

(...) That would work. However, a sub ng would help in keeping the trade posts separated from the rest of our traffic. The benefit is that those not interested in the trades can easily ignore them, and also that the annoucements have better (...) (21 years ago, 9-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New subgroup for .org.it.itlug

(...) I believe it is possible, similar things have been done before. Todd has to do the setup. An alternative, which I think the Aussies pursued, was to get the charter for their group changed to allow trade talk. ++Lar (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  News posting confirmation delay

Hello, It has come to my knowlegde that a number of people is experiencing rather long delays in their e-mail confirmation for the posting ability; I remember that when I aplied for this (in 2001), it took about 24 hours, but it is now taking over 3 (...)   New subgroup for .org.it.itlug

Hi all I know that LUGNET is pretty much rigid about where buy-sell-trade announcements can be posted, and I totally agree with this policy. However, ItLUG would like to have its own commercial subgroup, something like lugnet.org.it.itlug.market. (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: New newsgroup for Bricklords?

(...) In my view, to split a group there has to be a natural compartmentalization and a strong likelyhood that topics won't wander back and forth a lot, defeating the categorization. Trains.org got split out already (and threads there nevertheless (...) (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New newsgroup for Bricklords?

(...) like (...) I wish we could split .space and .train. Those 2 groups (maybe more, but I don't follow them) just seem to have 100's of posts per month... And it bogs down my nntp. Rob (21 years ago, 7-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.gaming)

  Re: New newsgroup for Bricklords?

(...) No! I don't think Frank meant it like that at all. But when traffic in an existing group gets to a certain level and it looks like it might be sustained, not just a flash in a pan, and it subcategorizes logically, it's certainly a valid thing (...)   Re: How do you guys do it?

(...) Ditto what Kevin said. I look at my ships from five years ago, compared with FdG (see the left side bar in .build.military), and then Takao ((URL) and there's a definite progression, aside from size of course. It's a simple process of (...) (21 years ago, 27-Dec-03, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.build.military)

(...) It was the posted format. The message was posted as 'Plain text', but you intended to post it as 'Formatted text (FTX)'. There's a box to choose between the two labeled 'Format:' below the subject line on the web posting page. Cary (21 years ago, 3-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

I know 99.9% of the time it's operator error so I guess I'm asking what I did wrong when I posted earlier all the photos appeared as links. see post: (URL) Did I enter the URLs wrong or was it my computer or my ftx Pat Bunn (21 years ago, 3-Jan-04, to lugnet.admin.general)

  PASSWORD RESET

(...) As others have said, Welcome! Lots of great ideas in this thread, as a 'old-timer' I thought I could toss out a couple more. Don't feel you need to build HUGE things.
