Re: Help unsubscribing from news by e-mail

Hey! Anyone checking in on this thread? I wrote an e-mail regarding this issue in November and never got a response, so this time I'm not letting it drop. -Duane <snip> (...) (21 years ago, 2-May-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Still spammin!

(...) I already fell for that temptaion. According to Norman Anti-Virus, it is some kind of worm/trojan. I don't remember its name, but it's probaby Gibe.B. The reason McAfee's SpamKiller let it pass through is that it doesn't filter mails with (...) (21 years ago, 1-May-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Still spammin!

(...) I've just started forwarding all my spam to Bruce Schlickbernd. Problem solved. (...) It doesn't seem to happen often enough to be a major problem for me yet, and I'm gratified that the Microsoft is so concerned about my security. Dave! (21 years ago, 1-May-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Still spammin!

(...) I've had this about 10 times. My mail server intercepts it every time. It's getting to the point that I'm tempted to see what it'd do. Does anyone know? Scott A (21 years ago, 1-May-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Still spammin!

(...) Popfile isn't a spam filter per se, but a dynamic, learning Email categorizer. In other words, you make up several Email categories (for example mine are Lego, Personal, Spam) and it sorts your mail into the respective categories. If it get a (...)   Re: Still spammin!

(...) What is a safe address? My "safest" address is one that actually contains the word NOSPAM. :) So far, the harvesters have filtered out that one... Today is the last day of my 30 days evaluation period of McAffe's SpamKiller. I must say I'm not (...) (21 years ago, 1-May-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) sorry to say, but those emails already harvested will never stop getting spam now. Your only option is to abandon that address, and start a new (Safe) one. Or, just install really good spam filters, like spamassassin. :) Dan (21 years ago, 30-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Still spammin!

Maintaining the trend of LUGNET-culled spamlists, some enterprising soul has kindly sent me the latest 238K "security update from the Microsoft." Much as I appreciate the sender's concern for my security, I deleted the email, as I have done with (...) (21 years ago, 30-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

Yes, there is. Just add the proper group to the "Newsgroups" field, or request that any replies to your message be followed up to the proper group. I've gone ahead and done it for you.   Re: posting problem (was: For Todd Lehman)

(...) Hmm. Dan, you might want to try filling out the posting setup again; I don't know if it's related, but I know the cookies for 'signed in member' and posting setup are related; if I happen to not be signed in, I can't post.   posting problem (was: For Todd Lehman)

(...) Dan, Todd is away on vacation right now, so there might be a delay in correcting this. He still reads the news postings and checks in with me a few times a day.   Re: New World LUG Map demo

I find these two conflicting posts very conflicting: (URL) is it? Does this technology work with IE only as Bill says? Or does it work with multiple browsers on multiple platforms as Dave says? I ask mostly because I'm curious. (21 years ago, 23-Apr-03, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: New World LUG Map demo

Todd, thank you for creating such a wonderful project that isn't dependent upon using a specific browser in order to view the content as it is presented.
