No it actually works in Safari, Mozilla, Chimera and probably Opera as well.
There's probably an SVG plug-in for recent Netscape releases too. I think
there are about 20 vendors supplying SVG plug-ins. Some of the more recent
browsers are shipping with native support. Mozilla even ships now with SVG,
but it's turned off by default.

SVG is actually quite platform independent. It's only been a W3 standard
for a couple years, though, so it's very well known or super widely
supported...yet.
I want to supply GIF or PNG images for browsers without SVG support.
