Todd, I tried to post using e-mail twice this morning, but the messages never arrived at Lugnet, nor did I get an error message from Lugnet. (...) Two or more slashes - well, I find it annoying that I have to type any slash at all! If I type "news.lugnet.com/cad/dev" I get the answer: Oops! The page you requested does not exist: (URL) However, a similarly named page does exist: (URL) is (...) (26 years ago, 13-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Good news. It turned out to be a bug in some of my own code. It was hard to find but easy to fix. Technical details follow. I was able to reproduce the symptoms of the problem by asking the webserver for a bogus URL that confused it, for (...) (26 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.announce)

(...) No -- the load from something like that would still be very low relative to something like this. Something like this is either a very sneaky DoS attack or the server stepping on its own feet due to an internal bug. I highly suspect the latter. (...) (...) I'm digging to isolate the problem. It's not a capacity limit problem -- the normal load on the server is moderate. It's something else, most likely a bug in the webserver somewhere. I caught three httpd processes spinning, each using 33% of (...) (26 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

I had several instances of "server busy, try later..." as well as seeing that the traffic report is "all quiet" across the board again. Are we starting to push the capacity limits of Lugnet(tm) or are there other issues behind the scenes? I'm (...) (26 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
