  New Polling Mechanism Available

Greetings! Well, since his trip to BrickFest, Todd has been in a coding-frenzy! LUGNET's latest development, now having passed its testing*, is available for all members to use: (URL) think you'll find this tool both fun and useful! (Curators take (...)   Re: Instructions Newsgroup sidebar updated!

(...) Hum.. You might want to put a link to POV-Ray as well. A link to Version 3.1g would be best for most users and Ver3.5 is still a bit *buggy* in terms of what most LDraw users do. Plus MEGAPov WILL NOT work with 3.5. Here is the link for the (...) (22 years ago, 11-Aug-02, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Naming the spotlight section

(...) I'm kinda not so keen on that regularization but I can't quite put my finger on why exactly. (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Instructions Newsgroup sidebar updated!

All, As the new lugnet.inst curator, I have taken my first stab at updating the sidebar. I have added several cool features and have a few more ideas for I will be working on later. Check it out at: (URL) me know what you think! Jake -- Jake McKee (...) (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.inst, lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Naming the spotlight section

(...) We haven't picked the standerd title text yet. once decided on, it'll probably be inserted automaticly above lists. I think we (admins) feel that the spotlight activity in the underlying groups will be called "Highlights", leaving the term (...) (22 years ago, 10-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Naming the spotlight section

I think that the name should be part of the spotlight FTX output. It should be consistent for all the groups. So I would like to ask that Todd et al. consider changing it to print a banner based on whatever consensus the curators arrive at, and for (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

Re: When too much is way too much-.build.mecha sidebar

(...) Two words, guys: curator ftx pages. Now, if it was only possible to search ftx pages... Steve (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

Re: When too much is way too much-.build.mecha sidebar

Let me tell you, for someone who is only, kinda, sorta, interested in MECH/MECHA the resources are just enough for me to think, "Huh how neat! I should try that as practice/experiment". -- Thanx~ Nicole; "Now with Masters in Psychology Analytical (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

Re: When too much is way too much-.build.mecha sidebar

(...) I guess! Was this a contest? :-) I'm torn between having lots of stuff because it's neat and it's one stop shopping, and not having so much that it's overwhelming and stuff gets lost. Difficult balance. lugnet.trains may be too far in the (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

When too much is way too much-.build.mecha sidebar

(...) I liked all the suggestions so I lumped them all together- 'LUGNET Spotlight-What’s hot in .build.mecha' (URL) be trimming back the sidebar this weekend when I overhaul it again. I guess I was successful in creating the longest sidebar, right, (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality

(...) only minor nit I have is that now all the 'news' links like the posting setup and the shortcut to people.newbie are scrolled off the bottom of the screen (at least, at 1024x768 they are). I'm not sure where they should go to, but I think it (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality

(...) My first pass was just "Spotlight". I can see a difference between the news home page and the lower level pages. Once you get to them, it's a little more clear what's going on. (...) Hmm, I like "What's hot in lugnet..." also. I think I'll (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality

(...) Wow! Thanks to Suz and the LUGNET admins. This is a great feature and I'm delighted to have it. TJ (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality

(...) I went with "What is hot in lugnet.trains" for now... (URL) (it's below the trains poster which I think stays on top. Not sure how far down to move it though, our sidebar has a lot of stuff in it... for right now it's second on the list) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality

(...) This is very cool indeed. However I must protest, I put "[NewsSpotlight lugnet.foo.bar]" into the lugnet.trains group sidebar and I'm not getting any highlights from the lugnet.foo.bar group! No one must be posting there, I guess. :-) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality

(...) A generic term like "Pirates" isn't too confusing with "LUGNET" in front of it, but something like "Aquazone" or "Harry Potter" is going to look pretty strange like that. Some random thoughts... I'd try it without the word "LUGNET" there, and (...) (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.admin.curators)

  Re: Expansion of Spotlight functionality
