Re: An alternative open letter to the CEO of the LEGO Company

(...) That's my understanding as well. That's a good summary of what Jake posted here (URL) and referred to here (URL). What's more, to my knowledge, that's the only reason which TLG have provided. Seems to me that either its fact or an outright (...) (20 years ago, 29-Jan-05, to lugnet.color, lugnet.dear-lego, FTX)

Re: Sending Commands to Spybot from RCX - Question from a Beginner to Comm area.

(...) First of all, my apologies for not answering you via email. I've been a bit busy at work. I needed to run some tests myself before I could properly respond as well. The 0x9223 from the RCX happens to match the IR sent out by the Spybot (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics.spybotics, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) I agree with previous posts that the variability of minifigs, not to mention their dispropotion nature means that a number of scales are possible. However, for me personally Minifig scale is not really 40:1. I have been doing a lot of work (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: surrender, you're surrounded!

(snip) Bottom line--it's a matter of opinion. One opinion is okay with the color change, the other is not. This sounds like a debate that ranks up there with politics and abortion. The German AFOL community has been most vocal about this, and (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jan-05, to lugnet.color)

(...) ;-) (...) You'd have to admit though that doing it's front windscreeen will be TRICKY. While mentally designing it I've been thinking of using some 1 x 6 arch bricks placed upside down; but that's half the job. Then you have to figure out how (...)   Bricksaic version 0.1.0

Hi all, I just finished a major update of Bricksaic. You can read about it and download it from here: (URL) Bricksaic is a program used to make LEGO mosaics. It is very simple to use. Just load you picture, select the colors in the palette, set the (...) (20 years ago, 27-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic, lugnet.announce) !!

Re: Potomac Mills Outlet & Tysons Corner Store

Hello! (...) Probably when our enemy is defeated :-) (...) I do not love LEGO unconditionally. I loved it under the conditions from before 2004. I use the Technic chain to take the backlash out of gear trains, and to create gear trains in combinations that are not possible using only gears (due to spacing of the gears on beams etc.) Where one chain is not strong enough, clever designs (...) Hey all, This post is more of a way to collect my own thoughts than it is to express them to everyone, but it seems like the right thing to do since others may share my perspective and be happy to see that they're not alone. (...) Having built a number of prototype "clone" bricks, I feel reasonably certain that the RCX's internal space is not the limiting factor. The surface area occupied by 2x2 I/O connectors is the true limit. (Assuming you dedicate a board to hosting (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Clear Bricks in 2x8 and 2x10

Clear bricks were available in many sizes, but in 2 sizes, 2x8 and 2x10 they seem to ONLY have been sold in the USA, and that was during the 1960's. This was recently confirmed by a Bricklink purchase I made from Europe of 4 2x10 and 2 2x8 bricks. (...) (20 years ago, 15-Dec-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: Is 1:40 minifig scale? (was Project YAMATO)

(...) Heh, I've done some checking... (URL) the answer is "whatever you think is right". Minifigs are just built very un-humanly. Very thick front-to-back, very wide, or very short. Or all three. In general, people usually derive scale by minifig (...) (20 years ago, 26-Jan-05, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)

Steve, This is really, really cool. The Turtle Creek model does a great job at showing how one can obtain very realistic effects with LEGO bricks. The use of non-primary colors lends a lot to the model. Too bad the tans, off-yellows, off-greens, (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)
