Re: MOC: Pacific Coast Shay #2

(...) Great looking shay, very close the the real #2. Boy that guy is huge, (10 wide) definitly not minifig scale. Does the pistons run also. You show the detail in the tender, but i did not see any detail in the engine. How did you deal with the (...) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: 4886: First building since the minifig to have 4 walls?

Hello! (...) In the early days of the Minifig the buildings were designed to have four walls but could be opened. Sets 374 and 376 come to my mind there: [LEGOSet 3741] [LEGOSet 3762] It's a pity there ain't minifigs included with the new set 4886. (...) (20 years ago, 12-Oct-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) From a technical/construction perspective I really like the model. I really like how you were able to make all the angles mate-up cleanly as well as the ablilty to skin the entire model in tiles. I also like how you implemented the cockpit (...) Hi, Deborah. I've really been enjoying your recent MOCs. Your minifig scale furniture is sleek and very inspirational. Great use of the two 1x2 "videotape" tiles for oven burners. And those variations on flowers are way cool. A minifig could (...) (20 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

(...) Agreed. The big pipe thingie is about 12 x 6 x 20 high and essentially one bit, but as great big juniorised bits go, at least its not an immediate candidate for the round file.   Re: Scale

(...) Well as the dimensions of a minifig are nowhere near proportional to a human, it's difficult to get an exact scale. I've seen scales ranging from 1:40 to 1:60 look ok with them, I think most people tend to scale in the low 40s if they're (...) (20 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.general)

4886: First building since the minifig to have 4 walls?

Getting 4886 today got me thinking... is this the first LEGO building since the introduction of the minifig to have 4 walls? Nothing jumps out at me while browing Town sets at Brickset; they all have the back wall open for the 'hand of God' to place (...) (20 years ago, 12-Oct-04, to lugnet.general)

(...) I've been wondering about this for a while. I've played with LEGO my whole life, but I didn't get my first Legoland set (Space Dart I Value Pack from 1984) until my 7th birthday. Does anyone know the scale of LEGO figures, both Minifig and Technic, compared to that of real life? Where they originally designed to scale or was it a case of hmmm that size will do? Many thanks. Gaz. (20 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.general)
