Re: Train Idea Book for the 4500 series

(...) Nope. more's the pity. But you have us, you know, isn't that enough? (25 years ago, 16-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: I'M SOMEBODY!!

(...) There seems to be some confusion here about this lot. Well, ok, a lot of confusion about the lot. But this is John we're talking about so that's to be expected. I would never bid (shill or otherwise) on my own lot. Why bother? I could just (...) (25 years ago, 16-Apr-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: This is awful

(...) Yes, that's true, but if the organization surfs to interNIC to look up the proposed domain name, it's pretty obvious what interNIC policy on name homesteading is. Agree with the original post that it's sad and lame, though. (25 years ago, 16-Apr-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

(...) Strangely enough, it's difficult, even for one with my godlike powers, to agree with you in YOUR post. Heck, it's hard enough to agree with you in person since you're usually babbling up about 98% of the available conversational bandwidth, (...) (25 years ago, 17-Apr-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: www.ldraw.org Registration Sent

I'll follow up with Tim offline but I'm pleased to make the following offer: I'll contribute either whatever Tim's short for the initial registration, or match the amount that Tim's over up to a limit of 100... that is if everyone else contributes (...)   Re: Train Sites?

(...) Silly Robin. He's twitting me because I didn't spell out who the members are, and left out an "as well as the following non PNLTC members" Got me. Hate it when that happens. :-) Fortunately it's not all that often. <GD&R> And if you think YOU (...) (25 years ago, 18-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Talk... is so very very cheap. Especially when someone else (Todd) is picking up the tab. I know it's hard for you to set up a site since you're a (shudder) Mac user, but if you had one, you could put it up there and we'd all be ahhing and (...)   Proxy ratcheting: How do auction systems work?

I (as well as all other participants) got a note from Ian Bishop in early March about a proxy quandary that had arisen. Seems he had a bidder that had bid 285 (a winning bid at the time) with proxy cap of 300. Someone else subsequently bid 300. Ian (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

(note that this is clearer than your first statement "AucZILLA works the 'correct'<emphasis mine> way" :-) ) I was getting myself into a panic for nothing, I must have been misreading the results I was examining.   Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

(...) Well, then perhaps you're going to have to change the internals of the engine a bit to clear the "bogie plate" pin. Many 9V solid frame engines (4563 main, 4559 main) use arches to clear it. (...) Not to split hairs, here, because now that I'm reassured that AucZILLA works the way it does, I like the way it works... but isn't "correct" a bit of a stretch?
