Re: Set 4811 - small poly bag set

(...) I'm personally using a lot of them as mounted soldiers - that plate armor looks great - but with different helmets. They also function pretty well as pikemen - I use some of my extra lance/flagpoles as pikes, and it works pretty well. (...) As (...) (25 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Thoughts on using yellow for a castle...

(...) Yes, that red line was inspired. It's the kind of touch that lends a martial aspect, by invoking the sacrifice of those who have defended the city in times gone by. And I loved the sloped bottom as well--your wall looks formidable and (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Replacement for old style train wheel rubber bands

I'll say it again - good quality rubberized heatshrink tubing should work fine, and will lock down quite tightly if you find the right size. And if you use a lighter/heatgun carefully (or like me when I shrink the stuff, use a butane soldering iron (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: More Heat Testing

Over the past few years I have had a chance to play w/several types of ABS/plastics and various heating elements(1) to make race car body parts(2). Lego ABS melts at about 220 degres easily. A 15watt soldering iron can cut right thru them (...) (25 years ago, 3-Mar-00, to lugnet.storage)

(...) Well... the problem with that being that I don't think the rules are very clearly defined to begin with-- hence the need for discussion :) (...) I certainly don't see it as very limiting-- also, I imagine that when someone comes in, they've (...) (25 years ago, 2-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: From St. Nazarie to Port Block...?

(...) That's OK. The functionalist approach is "what good is the iron plating unless you can watch shot bounce off it?" (...) That's OK. The French always seem to forget that special ships and special guns require special ammunition and special (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.pirates)

Hi, I looked at the subject line and thought someone'd had a bit too much of the grog...*hIc!* (...) There were some real monsters among those first-rates, however. I remember, in particular, the French ship L'Orient, which was *rated* at 120 (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) I think "The Junk" will avoid Port BlocK if that behemoth leaves drydock....hmmmmm...2 cannons, 6 muskets, 1 pistol and 12 katanas vs "THE IRON GIANT" ...I guess my ship would be the naval equivalent of a fly on the windshield....oh my ! (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) Agreed. I've already thought of a few other uses for most of the things mentioned above. IMO, the lab windows are akin to the Divers' type of small round windows. Often, after I get used to seeing pieces like that, I usually think to myself, (...) (25 years ago, 8-Mar-00, to lugnet.space)

Bearing that in mind, the Repubrickan Navy (the fine and egalitarian institution it is) has decided to send a...presence out to yonder Pacific-type points. This is no wee sloop; rather, it's (...)
