The slopes used to approximate a round shape and the stickers added a sense of realism to the model that was really refreshing for the time (this was one of the sets that ushered in the minifig era). | Last week I finished my custom ATST. I think it comes close to the real thing. The head can turn 90o to the right and left, and about 45o up and down.
