  Minifig scale mobile crane
 
Hi, This is a 5 axle mobile crane. It has 8 wheel steering, the boom is raised pneumaticaly and the winch is motorized. I built it over a year ago but I never took the time to document it. Building Lego models is a lot more fun than web (...) (20 years ago, 24-Jul-04, to lugnet.technic)

A few stats about the larger crane: - Crawler base is about 100 studs square - The boom is 3m (10') long - A quick test showed it can lift this truck: (URL) with the boom at 45 degrees or a 250cm (...) To tell you the truth, although I am I would say ensconced in the LEGO(r) community, I really am not familiar with all the myriad parts and especially minifigs (except of course The Reverend's"). (...) Thanks Joe. Those sponsons (the winglets along the bottom of the hull) were a big kludge...I didn't have enough corner slopes to do what I really wanted. Next time I'll use triangular plates on the ends! I'll try that dihedral idea also, (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jan-05, to lugnet.build)
