Re: What every lego town is missing....

(...) I'd disagree that every real town needs sprawl-marts. My LEGO town, Abston, doesn't issue building permits for them, or for McChoke-n-pukes, so you won't see me modeling such stains :-) Nice models, though. Amy (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: LEGO® Launches Battle Over Trademark

(...) Lego did not license the Kiddicraft design. They took it and *slightly* modified it. The Kiddicraft design, although patented in the UK, was not protected in Denmark. They bought all of the residual rights to the brick (in the early 1980s) (...) (15 years ago, 18-Nov-09, to lugnet.mediawatch, FTX)

  Self-modified bricks - pure?

Would the purists consider user-modified bricks pure? S'pose I file off the corner of some bricks so they fit together at 45 deg. Is that cheating? (24 years ago, 1-Oct-00, to lugnet.build)

  Re: What would it take?

(...) Hey, I resemble that remark :-) Actually, my groan isn't knee-jerk at all. I've been programming computers since about the time Microsoft bought MS-DOS and then foisted it upon the world. They got where they are on IBM's name, not their own, (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jan-01, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.general)

  Re: Town building contest begins!

(...) If you're going to include thumbnails you'll want to make them uniform size, for fairness. If you can't do this automatically it's probably more trouble than you'd be willing to put up with. You could insist that thumbnails submitted be a (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

(...) A few suggestions: First, Javascript isn't necessary to load images, operate buttons or pretty much anything else. Some people surf with it turned off to avoid pop-up advertisements. Javascript is a tool for advertisers and little else. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Proposal: TOWN building contest

(...) I have two remaining problems with placing DATs in the same categories as photos. First, you can use any number of rare pieces. Second, you can build things that *attach* like real-world pieces but you aren't limited to building structures (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.town)

(...) If you don't believe the piece count, consider that in your voting. If you think the modeler squeaked under the category size limit by using large, rare pieces, and you don't think that's fair, consider that in your voting. Personally, I don't (...)
