I just recently went to shop.lego.com to purchase my very own 8448 Street Sensation, and got a notice that the set was "Not available in my country." (USA). A call to Shop-at-Home confirmed the worst: there are no more 8448 sets, the set has been (...) (22 years ago, 4-Nov-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) No. We know that most of _continental europe, the UK and North America_ are 4-8-1/2". However, there is a lot of narrow gauge stuff around, and a fair amount of broad gauge too.
