Gary Istok - Rare First USA (1961) & First Canada (1962) Catalogs

I have been cleaning out my Lego closet, and came up with a pair of rare Lego catalogs I am putting up for sale. They are: 1) The very first USA Lego catalog, the 1961 Samsonite catalog, in MINT condition. It has a glossy (shiny) finish, with (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jul-06, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: First Lego Sales In Portugal in 1957?

Nuno, You have a #210 Small Shop set (produced 1955-65). What is the name on the Named Beam in that set? I have seen 3 variations on that sign for Germany (TABAK, WUERSTCHEN and BACKER). I was wondering what variation was sold in the #210 sets for (...) (18 years ago, 6-Jun-06, to lugnet.loc.pt)

Re: American LEGO culture different than German LEGO culture?

Well lets see there are a few things missing from this Doctors discussions.... 1) Most Lego sets from 1955-65 had one thing in common.... the picture on the box top had nothing to do with what was inside the box! 2) Until around 1965 most sets (...)   Re: First Lego Sales In Portugal in 1957?

Nuno, A "named beam" is (usually) a white 1x6 or 1x8 brick with writing on it. Common ones are 1x8 bricks with "GARAGE" or "ESSO SERVICE" writing on one side, or a 1x6 brick with "HOTEL" or "CAFE" writing on one side. Did that #210 set have a brick (...) OK, Usually the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't" always comes to mind. But this is legit..... A friend got a large grocery bag of Lego from an acquaintance, and gave it to me. Well when I got it, there were something like (...)   Re: Dear LEGO Company,

Todd, Very well stated! My sentiments exactly. For those of us who have friends or acquaintances at TLG, it is especially distressing. Unfortunately this has not been the first turbulence at the Lego company. - The 1972 transfer of the Samsonite USA (...) (18 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.lego)
