Look what I found in the Lego aisle! (Was: Re: Anyone out there?)

Yay! I've met my first LUGNETter! And of all places in the Lego aisle at Wal-Mart. Nice meeting you, Laurajean, I'll know now who you are if we do have a meet/go en masse to NELUG. Anyone else run into LUGNETters at the store? -LFB. (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.us.nj.new, lugnet.loc.us.nj.tre, lugnet.loc.us.ny.ny)

  Re: RCX Output (Train applications)

This sounds interesting, but trying to understand it in the middle of class has my head swimming ;-) Any chance of diagrams and pics? I ust picked up my first trains and RIS last week, so I want to hook them together and have some fun with my cats (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.trains)

(...) Yeah, I know. But I've got, like, 40 moving parts and I have to do this many times for an animation. It's a *pain*! (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

The "Which Set Should I Buy" FAQ

Well, it took me less than an hour from preliminary announcement to posting, but the "Which Set Should I Buy" FAQ is now ready for viewing.   Re: What's Off-Topic?

Found this while browsing www.lugnet.com/reviews/ looking for a review of the Lego R/C Racer. The entire thread is (URL) . Very amusing! It starts off well, but digresses in directions of castle sets, Larritarianism, Monty Python, etc., etc. While (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Sub-models. You can make a sub-model DAT file for your model, say an arm, and have it centered on the axis of rotation. Then you insert this sub-model as a regular LDraw part in the appropriate place, rotate it, etc. with all the sub-model's (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)

  RE: RCX Output (Train applications)

Wow, what an excellent description. I look forward to trying this out over the holidays. I had one other idea that may explain my initial failure. The track layout I was using was rather large, in fact it took up the entire living room using nearly (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  sticky proggy?

Is there a program available suitable for animation where I can load the LDraw file (converted to *.DXF or whatever) and make the hinges move as they would in real life? It's a pain to have to realign each part manually and not have it automatically (...) (25 years ago, 16-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad)
