Re: Building a moon-display for your space models

I did something similar to this when I was messing around with animation back in high school. A friend and I were making an ice planet movie(it never got that far) and needed sets. I built a few by first making a frame out of 1x2s about 2x3 feet. (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.build)

  4x2ReVu: 7150 TIE Fighter and Y-wing

The pilot kicks his father's ship for the hundredth time. He waited all his life for the opportunity like that of helping his friends with a raid on the empire's deathstar and now, so close, his father's rusty Y-wing decided to stall out on a nearby (...)   Re: Blue Air Tanks

I've used a very light aluminum air freshener can called OZUIM. It's about 7-8 inches in length and a little over an inch in diameter. My guess is it is about 3 to 4 times the internal volume of the blue tanks. By removing the spray nozzle and using (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: KB KIDS.com 20% Off sale (and 50% clearance items, more importantly)

Tom, (...) Had my order for 20 rejected by KB... "quantity above limits." Figures. They finally sell something at a decent price, then don't want to let it go in any kind of volume. What's REALLY annoying is they didn't specify what an acceptable (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Last time I looked, Big Lots still had several of the #6495 Time Tunnelator sets. The minifig in this set wears one of those hats. See it here: (URL) Roller (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Building a moon-display for your space models

(...) True, but since I live in the land of earthquakes (California), I will want to ensure a safe 'landing zone' <grin>. Bad enough to see that my work- table has been 'walked' across the room, but to have the models on it forcably dis-membered (so (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) OH! THOSE hats! ... ok... I don't think I've ever seen them in black before! I just have them in white, and I used to have 1 in red, I think... Are there any sets on the market now that have 'em in black? DaveE (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Building a moon-display for your space models

Embedding plates, that´s a good idea. For bases etc, I thoguht that I´d build the model on it´s own baseplate, then just put it on the display, like it´s done in the catalogues. I don´t know if it really is necessary to embed plates, if you can make (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.build)

That's right - the sailor/IrishPubCrawler cap, not the baseball hat, like the guy in this set has: (URL) Thanks be to Kevin Loch!   Re: Building a moon-display for your space models

(...) Greetings, Tobias... You might also think about -embedding- smaller plates here and there (inside craters or rills, for example) to enable you to achieve a more solid footing for your models. I've thought about this myself, both for space (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.build)

Building a moon-display for your space models

I just got this idea that I´ll try soon. By using papier-mache, some glue and sand, you could build a planet plate to play and display your space models on. This would be especially cool with classic space. You form the landscape, spread glue on it, (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: female figures

The 2x2x2 white "skirt" slopes in the Space Port set are not preprinted, the printing is a sticker. There is a fire set which has them in red, but I don't know which it is. I have 8 of these in white and 8 in black (undecorated, not witch skirts) (...) (25 years ago, 6-Oct-99, to lugnet.castle)
