  Re: PRR T1 #5544

(...) Very nice Tony. lots of subtle details to enjoy, I only discovered when looking at the large image on flickr. The little scoop/cowcatcher under the front coupler. The side skirting on the trailing truck. And as already mentioned the (...) (15 years ago, 28-Sep-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Has anyone considered molding track ourselves?

(...) I think someone needs to just go to some plastics manufacturers (molding, 3d printing, whatever) and say "this is what we want, how much would it cost for a mold or design and how much would it cost per unit" I think that if someone said "We (...) (15 years ago, 28-Sep-09, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: PRR T1 #5544

(...) snarky comment #1: What, no PF? snarky comment #2: aren't you just trapsing all over Cale's territory (first Erie, now PRR)? Seriously though, slick stuff! And that tender looks like a sheer exercise in brute force to make the skirting work. (...) (15 years ago, 28-Sep-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Has anyone considered molding track ourselves?

(...) The simple solution that I would envision would be lego compatible ties that work with some off the shelf model railroad rail stock. That would keep the lego gauge, eliminate the need to put metal on plastic (beyond slipping ties on to the (...) (15 years ago, 28-Sep-09, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: LD4DStudio 1.1 Beta 3 Released

I was wondering if your program uses same format as or could output to the LDraw Connection Database? (URL) would be cool to have a single database for connections, and even allow users to "submit" newly discovered connections just by using your (...) (15 years ago, 27-Sep-09, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 11-16 primitives?

(...) For MLCAD it doesn't matter. Steve said that MLCAD worked fine with long filenames inside parts.lst. The only reason to put the short filename in is for other programs that might have problems with the long filename. And as long as mklist is (...)   Re: 11-16 primitives?

(...) Sounds easy, but I think nobody can read that short filenames that would appear in the MLCad list!? cu mikeheide (15 years ago, 27-Sep-09, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: 11-16 primitives?

(...) If it's running in Windows, I think a backwards-compatible switch should use the Win32 API to get the short filename (with the ~1 at the end, usually, determined using PathGetShortPath) and use that in place of the long filename. --Travis (15 years ago, 27-Sep-09, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: 11-16 primitives?

(...) That would be good, I think. (...) Can you have two levels? Level One that still shows the warnings, but doesn't stop, and Level Two suppresses all warnings. (...) I'd keep the current line-format for all parts conforming to the 8.3 format, (...) (15 years ago, 27-Sep-09, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Has anyone considered molding track ourselves?

Re: Has anyone considered molding track ourselves?

(...) During the last year I got a lot of experiences in 3d printing. I think that can be an alternative to molding since that is very costly.
