(...) Yes, I have used cross-stitch patterns to create LEGO studs-out mosaic patterns. The ones that have just the large thread diagonal type patterns work best. (...) If you are working with MLCad this is simple. Just go to 'Multipart'->'New Model' and then scroll in the parts tree to 'Document' then you can put your imported model as a subpart into your new part.
