United Nations truck and mini-fig 1980's

Hi, I have a United Nations truck and mini-fig that I bought new in the 1980's, I forget the year...and I can't find any info on the set. I know I have the instructions somewhere but I would like to know the set #. Any help? (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: End of 9V Trains protest layout idea

(...) Holy schamollies! That is indeed some very impressive pulling power by the 9V motors! I guess I was only making an assumption based on mis-perceptions fueled by not enough data and an unscientific guess. Boy, that's a horrible combination. (...)   Re: End of 9V Trains protest layout idea

(...) Hi Bob, that assumption is not perfectly correct. In October 2006 a single 12V engine (powered by 2 motors) has pulled this 100 waggons train. (URL) A few months earlier we have made this attempt with a 9V engine pulling 61 cars. But we had (...) (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) I'm "all in" :-d (...) That really does sound like fun. Alas, it won't be. But you're coming to Brickworld, yes? And bring along (by the ear, if you have to) Koudys, too!   Re: End of 9V Trains protest layout idea

(...) Actually, the magnetic couplers would be the limiting factor before the strength of the person pulling the train became an issue. I'm sure someone here knows what the critical number of cars is before the lead coupler can no longer bear the (...) (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Gee John, if that's your real name. Where did you get that idea? Tell THE TRUTH and don't HATE ME. Seriously: John's rampant conceptual pilfering notwithstanding, I think that this would be a nice idea to try out, so I second the motion if (...)   Re: LUGNET needs a Lounge

(...) The name "lounge" for an ot forum is not my idea, mind you. But I disagree. I like the way off-topic works; I just think an o-t.lounge might be in order. The OTL. I'd hang there, just like the Friends who hung out in Central Perk (how was that (...) (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: LUGNET needs a Lounge

End of 9V Trains protest layout idea

Here's a crazy idea... How about one or more of the larger Lego train clubs that attend shows set up the following layout: a 30 x 50 foot layout (or some such large size) with no power provided at all. No batteries. No electricity. Not even solar (...) (17 years ago, 23-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX) !

  LUGNET needs a Lounge

.fun/.pun are for FUs when threads swerve OT; .debate has contentious connotations. A lounge would provide true OT living, where the pithy and the clever could congregate and gentle smack would be allowed-- like an .rtl, without all of the (...)
