  Opinions sought on rendering method

I'm working on a different rendering method (for instructions) using POV-Ray, and I wanted to get some opinions about the output. On that note, I have two sample renderings in two different sizes, and I'd like to get people's feedback. Note that I'm (...) (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) So it sounds like a single loop should be no problem under most situations, since I'm not sure I've heard of anyone running three motors on a single train (there's the same issue with how much amperage a power regulator can push). (...) It (...) (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Parts vs subparts for compound parts

(...) "A part I can buy" is not how we determine where to place a file. Since x322 represents a solid piece that a modeler may need to interact with directly (that is, give it a color). Looking at the files involved, the file locations and (...) (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Limited/Special Edition Sets Now at Target

(...) Actually, these sets are already availble in LEGO Stores as I bought the TIE Crawlers 2 weeks ago at Potomac Mills and I remember seeing the others as wells. -Orion. (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.castle, lugnet.starwars)

Re: The Future of Trains // Wishlist

(...) My point is that TLG should continue with the 9volt system until a new system is developed and available. Showing off our train layouts at train shows and telling visitors that it is discontinued for 2+ years will turn off the buying public (...) (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Limited/Special Edition Sets Now at Target

AND my understanding is all these should be available on LEGO Stores, October 15th in USA at least. (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.castle, lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Rutland Boxcar #104

(...) This brickshelf gallery has a pretty good example of it. The version I used is slightly different, but the basic idea is the same. (URL) Basically, use two plates, back to back, held together with a couple of bricks with studs on both sides. (...) (17 years ago, 8-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: What would YOU like to see from TECHNIC?

(...) I think the idea of models that perform some direct mechanical function is a good one. As a child, I remember being immensely pleased with the "fan" I built from (URL) - it was just powered by a hand crank. That example is hardly as (...) (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) Stalled, the train motor pulls 950 mA, while the stall current of the NXT motor is a whopping 2 Amps. So a single NXT motor output should easily handle a twin-engine train loaded to the point where it stalls the engine(s)... there's the matter (...)   Re: What would YOU like to see from TECHNIC?

(...) This, of course, is great idea, but these days we come to except such things from Brian. I've got to believe that some simple modules could be priced very affordably, perhaps in the $15-$30 range. More complex ones, of course, could be priced (...)   Re: Rutland Boxcar #104

(...) What is the "opening door design"? Are there some examples of the method being use? I did a search on LUGNET and came up empty. jt (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Parts vs subparts for compound parts

(...) SNIP (...) For to solve the hold vote on this part, I think, that the current x322.dat should go into the s/ folder because this is not a PART that I can buy. So the file with the metal portion should be instead x322.dat and with the light (...) (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Ludo, Very impressive! I saw a bunch of stave churches last Augst when I was in Norway, and remember thinking that building one would be a great LEGO project! Medieval Norwegian architecture seems to have things in common with older Japanese (...) (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.town, FTX)

Re: What would YOU like to see from TECHNIC?

Hi, I've never been a big Technic fan, but I've bought a few sets over the years and my next major LEGO purchase will probably be that big yellow RC bulldozer. I've always been interested in incorprating technic elements into minifig scale (...) (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic, FTX)
