Agreed, The new part now fits the angle connector mould (excuse pun) but the good news is it should be available in the colour range that angle connectors are available in negating the need for multi coloured notched axle joiners. Haven't gotten to that model yet but, for a less drastic example, (URL) #05> (one of my favorites) does require a tweak to add a motor because the 2x6 plate on the base blocks the hole for the motor pin.
