  March IndyLUG Meeting

The March IndyLUG meeting will be on Saturday the 17th at 2:00 PM at Mark’s new house in Clayton. (If you’ve never been to Clayton, or have never been to an IndyLUG function and would like to join the club, please email me for directions.) Things (...)   Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

(...) Ouch, I understand quite well, actually*. But I agree with John, it sounds like the NXT might be in firmware update mode. If you *haven't* already done it, download the latest firmware (1.04), and a patch for the driver (1.02), from LEGO's (...) (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  Re: Cosmic Cruiser Blacktron-I Style

(...) Hi, very nice work; as Space sets hardly ever brought any "cargo" (barrels, containers ...), the Blacktron group can now steal vessels, at least :-) Regards, Florian (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.space)

Re: Death Star the Palitoy way

(...) That is amazing. I'm simply in love with it. I'm beginning to think that all my future lego building must involve playsets. Thanks, Tim (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.starwars, FTX)

Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

(...) It sounds to me like the NXT is simply in firmware download mode. There is no visible reaction on the NXT once it is in that mode but you should hear a faint clicking sound. That's what the reset button does - i.e., it puts the NXT into (...) (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  Cosmic Cruiser Blacktron-I Style

An elite command of operatives specialized in stealing vehicles of all sorts and converting them to meet with rigorous Blacktron military specs. Shown below is one of many Cosmic Cruisers that were indoctrinated into the Blacktron fleet. These (...) (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  BricxCC & NBC/NXC News

The Sourceforge shell service finally came back on line today so I was able to update my web pages again. The official links to beta 27 are up now. I have also uploaded a revision to Danny Benedettelli's fantastic NXC Tutorial (and sample code). And (...) (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

(...) Two 6th grade girls at Ladd Acres Elementary in Hillsboro Oregon USA, named the NXT, "OOBER" out of the box. They used a rechargeable until that needed recharging. I replaced their original rechargeable with another one. Today, about 30 (...) (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  RICScript

You may not find this terribly interesting, but I have implemented an RIC to Text converter (a decompiler, if you will) which generates source code for an RIC file in a text format. Soon BricxCC will have support for writing and (...) (19 years ago, 24-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

First, let me repeat the request for specifics. I *have* had some reports of indivdual sensors failing (and being replaced by LEGO), as well as the rare motor that seems a little bit to high in internal friction (and, again, at least addressed by (...)   Re: The Yellow Devil

Looking very good! Especially for a space MOC ; ) The streamlined nature of the whole thing appeals to me and the back story represents everything that makes me cringe...and then smile... at space. God Bless and thanks for sharing, Nathan (URL) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: 3039 (Slope 45 degree 2x2) molds are wearing out

(...) For what I know, the rough on slopes will disappear on future. I don't know if is a certain thing and how the change will be (all parts at same time or when molds are substituted). LBaixinho (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

(...) Hi Fly, I suspect that your NXTs are fine. On the other hand, I suspect your rechargeables are toast; there is a big difference between those two things. An underpowered NXT will behave erratically, and therefore, as the battery looses its (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Surveying MTBF of Edu NXTs

(...) You should be able to estimate time-to-failure in the presence of your censored data; people do this all the time in engineering and cancer and many other fields. Steve H seems surprised at the fact that any NXT died and I must say that I am (...) (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Canadian National ES44DC in 7-wide

(...) That is pretty sweet, Tim. The nose looks fantastic. 7 Wide feels right here as well. (...) I do. It is another fabulous MOC from you. I think I just might attempt to build one for myself. Best, Jonathan (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Clearing up scratches on pieces

(...) There is an alternative to the brasso, especially if you are merely trying to do away with scratches and not trying to remove print. The key, FUTURE's Floor Wax. It has been used by model airplane builders forever. Check it out here (URL) Kam (19 years ago, 23-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.space)
