  Re: New web site!

Well, gee, we're not advocating that you give up, just that Homestead may not be the place to get fancy... We'd all love to see your creations. As to how to cancel, you might try reading the FAQ at the site. (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: wishing upon a star

(...) I like this system, but just want to comment that it's not a complete substitute for the part numbers that LEGO molds on the bottom of the bricks. Another issue is that there are an awful lot of parts that don't fall into the category of (...) (25 years ago, 25-Aug-99, to lugnet.db.brictionary)

  Re: Wal Mart specials

(...) Let me guess -- no other toy stores in Milpitas? I don't live in your area, but WAL-MART is a national chain and I've heard that they apply different pricing policies in each store based on conditions in each store's local market. If a (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Wal Mart specials

I went by the Wal Mart in Milpitas today and I couldn't find ANYTHING that was marked down. Even the stuff on the *clearance* aisle looked like it was full price. Anybody know what's up?   Re: Baseball mini-figs?

(...) No way! Cool! (...) GIF, GIF! :) Is it *really* a LEGO® minifig? Did it come in LEGO packaging? I'm hoping it's not, but is there any chance it's a clone? --Todd (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

trying to guess the stud spacing by measuring bricks

(...) The reason your approach doesn't work is because all LEGO parts are deliberately manufactured with a very tiny gap allowance on each contact-surface dimension. If this weren't the case, the bricks would not fit well when dirty or marred. It (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Conversion between LDU, inches and millimeters

(...) This surprises me. *Exactly* 25.4 mm / inch? I thought that the conversion rate was kind of one of those irrational numbers (1) that had digits trailing off into infinity or, failing that, Imelda Marcos' shoe closet. :-, (...) *This* is cool. (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.faq)

Conversion between LDU, inches and millimeters

(...) Conversion constants are much more relevant to the stud pitch than the brick height or width, because brick heights and widths are subject to the error caused by the fact that LEGO always designs elements so there will be tiny gaps when (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.faq)

Re: Q:Best approach to line tracking

(...) just program your robot to turn the opposite way as the sensor that goes off the line. i made a line tracker with one light sensor that had treads instead of wheels. when it got off the line, it started roving back and forth (more and more (...) (25 years ago, 24-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
