  Re: A quick LEGO History

Thanks Jim! For questions relating to the history of the LEGO company and the Christiansen family, Jim Hughes is really the subject matter expert. He has done a lot of research about both, whereas my area of research is focused more on the LEGO sets (...) (19 years ago, 25-Dec-06, to lugnet.general)

(...) The Penn Central car is a transfer caboose. Here is a Wikipedia page with a description about half way down. (URL) I'm not sure about the other. It's most likely some type of Maintenance of way equipment. What type I don't know. (URL) Cale (19 years ago, 25-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) As it appears to have a compressor on board, my guess would be either a spike remover or a spot tamper, but can't be sure. I'll ask around. Merry Christmas! ROSCO (19 years ago, 25-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

The teal one would probaly be a type of caboose. Mind you there are a bunch of different designs out there, some of which were for special purposes. This was probaly a work train related one. However on the other hand, the peice of equipment, I have (...) (19 years ago, 25-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Blue Crater Crawler

Don't know which one I like better--the original gray and black 6826, or the blue and gray one that I pieced together this morning. Had a fun time making this model. The red space figure fits in well with the vehicle's color scheme. These little (...) (19 years ago, 24-Dec-06, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Question for you knowledgeable Train-heads

Recently while on a walk with my son, I took some pictures of a few train cars that have been sort of on display in my town for at least all of the 3 1/2 years we've lived here. They're clean and looked-after, to judge by the lack of grafitti, (...) (19 years ago, 24-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: What's the difference?

  Re: A quick LEGO History

1970 was a very tumultuous year at TLG. A lot of bad things were in progress at the same time.... 1) the USA Samsonite license fiasco. 2) the death of Hanne Christiansen. 3) a new law passed by the Italian parliament. In October of 1969 on their way (...) (19 years ago, 24-Dec-06, to lugnet.general)
