| | USB->serial adapter for IR-tower
Has anyone here tried using a USB->serial adapter for the IR-tower? I´m curious about this, since I have had bad experiences trying to expand the number of COM-ports on my machine (I have two on-board COM-ports, both used, now). Best regards, David (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

The mindstorm internals (very very good pages...) : (URL) has a section called "Communication". Here is the beginning : "The RCX uses a 38kHz carrier, which is pretty typical for TV remotes. As for the sampling rate, the RCX runs at 2400 bps, which (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

A simple way to overcome the unidirectional problem of the IR link is to build your robot with the RCX pointing up. Suspend the IR tower from the ceiling, pointing down. For a small room, this should cover the entire area. Only problem is when your (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)
