Checked three TRUs in the Raleigh area (Raleigh, Durham, and Cary) and no sign of the Advent Calendar set here. Figures ... in fact the Raleigh TRU just underwent some sort of a reorganization. The new layout is awful. It kind of reminds of a maze. (...) (25 years ago, 4-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

Well, I have to say that your use of the term "reverse auction" is a bit confusing. Normally, "reverse auction" refers to Dutch or descending-price auctions in which all bids come from buyers (and the bid *falls* over time), not auctions in which (...) To blink LEDs at 40khz, you could try using the 555 timer. Radio Shack carries the 555 timer chip, a little booklet explaining how to use it, and any external components you need. Well, as you discovered, 5:6 isn't close to the Golden Ratio, but it's still a good idea. Perhaps you were thinking of 10:6, the aspect ratio of the "end" face of a 2x4 brick, which is fairly close to the Golden Ratio. (...) The derivation is: 1 + (...) (25 years ago, 3-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

I've been using the Miniboard to send and receive IR messages among other things. I find that the board is right on the edges of being fast enough to generate the 40KHz carrier and thus, I don't use it that way. Rather, I use the Miniboard to (...)
