Re: New MOC: Multi-Terrain Analyzer ACR-10

(...) Bram, Way cool, I'm dying to see how exactly you did the articulations though. And it could use some action shots, with bug eyed Aliens. Thanks, George (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Crate Contraption Writeups

Thanks to Philo, I've put up much smaller versions of the Crate Contraption videos for download. You'll have to have the latest DIVX codec (from www.divx.com) installed. The videos average 1/4 to 1/5 the size of the originals. (URL) on the Divx (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart, lugnet.robotics)

Re: Blade Runner Police Spinner: version 2

(...) Boy, is it! The director's cut of Blade Runner is one of my favorite films (and Ridley Scott's last great work, IMO). I'm always delighted to see a good rendition of the police spinner, even when I can't track down (URL) the picture of it (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Multi-Terrain Analyzer ACR-10

(...) Thanks! Filling in the gaps left by those larger arches can be tricky...it would if the intermediate size existed. I always wish I had more of the big ones too (I ran out on this project). (...) No, they're just for show. (...) The moonbase (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space)

Re: Type 5 lines, BFC relevance, and OpenGL

(...) I'm using a display list. The triangles are drawn inside the display list using "classic" OpenGL calls (glBegin(GL_TRIANGLE....glEnd()). The lines are being drawn inside the display list using vertex arrays. Using vertex arrays to draw the (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New MOC: Multi-Terrain Analyzer ACR-10

(...) I can't take credit for the name...thank Tom McD and Jon Palmer for that. And yes, it does sound like a nice C-S name. --Bram (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space)

Re: Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

(...) This kind of stuff would be excellent material for a curator to collect... The trick is to consider what forces cause MOCs to disassemble. Vibration is one issue. Solidly constructed models will survive best from this standpoint. This is the (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage)

Re: New MOC: Multi-Terrain Analyzer ACR-10

Sweet! The wheels/suspension are especially nice, but my favorite part is the name, which sounds like something Lego would have come up with. James Wilson Dallas, TX (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: New MOC: Multi-Terrain Analyzer ACR-10

(...) (snip) That's really cool. I'm gonna have nightmares about all those curved pieces--I can barely get four of them to look good, and here you've raised an entire civilization of the things and they probably worship you as a god. Upside down, (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Blade Runner Police Spinner: version 2

(...) I'm not familiar with Blade Runner, but I know nifty when I see it. That, sir, is nifty. The lights on the roof are a little messy-looking. I dunno if there's any way to fix it without sacrificing accuracy--what you have there is already (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

(...) Hm. Besides bagging sections of MOCs, I would recommend: 1. Wrapping MOCs in towels or bubble wrap to fit a box...try to minimize open space in the box. On the other hand, do not pack too tight - the bubble wrap and towel keep the MOC from (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage, FTX)

Packing MOCs for Shipment - Suggestions?

In preparation for the upcoming HOB event, I am becoming more and more concerned with how to transport my MOCs safely either as checked airline baggage or by over-nighting via a shipping company. I have found some helpful information by searching (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.storage, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: RTL - train spec question

(...) A six wide car should be more than enough space to use that boardmount camera. The power supply's just a 9V battery, right? (...) Yeah, that's funny actually because I have a lot of extra wheelsets. More than I know what to do with. When I got (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Good news

I know you guys will love this. I took my latest Connect-Four robot (Stick) to the RoboGames in San Francisco last weekend. It was a big hit, playing almost 300 games (it lost 7, tied 2). It ended up winning Best Of Show against many 'Sheet-metal' (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Game Show Network

Does anyone out there get GSN (formerly the Game Show Network)? I was out at Robogames last weekend, and they interviewed me, and did a small segment on me and my robots. I looked at their schedule, but didn't see any place it would fit (mostly old (...) (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.mediawatch)

Re: RTS LEGITOR a single-turret seagoing monitor (Passaic Class)

(...) Kurt, It seems like just a few weeks ago I was wondering why I couldn't find any good MOCs of Civil War era (and later) ironclads, and voila, you post one. This is great, I'd like to see it in person. Thanks, George (21 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, FTX)
