  Re: Land mine robot

I bought a metal detector circuit kit to do the same thing. Even though the kit was a good value (around $15), it requires a radio. A little dismayed (since I don't want to add a metal detector AND radio to a bot), I searched the net for schematics (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: New Mosaic: Map of the USA

I know at Brickfest there will be many a dot from the Northern Virginia area. (...) (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

  Land mine robot

Hi, I thought of a new project and would like some input on the idea. My idea is to set up a sand box and hide objects to simulate land mines. My thought was to have a robot search for the hidden mines. My question is, how can I get the robot to (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: The Quasar

Cool. Like Paul said, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was "racing boat". The shape of it is really pleasing. I think that the sporadic black and antifreeze bits detract a bit from the model. I makes an otherwise clean design look kind of (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)

  greebling for keeps

oh yeah, very nice. although you want to keep in mind what adrian said: build what YOU like, and don't mind us ***holes (paraphrasing) this is really nice now, keeping the greeblies in between the slopes and behind the engine panels is really (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: New Space MOCs

John, While I think the ship looked good the way it was (yeah, if it were to *really* fly thru space it might get ripped up, and maybe "fighter" wasn't the best description for it), this is even better. I think it's fine just the way it is now. Maye (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: TLG ad in Model Railroader

Yes, this is basically a dream come true. I recall dreaming of the day when you could do a GATS. Then a complete fantacy was that LEGO would ever be consisdered legit. And now... the ad and the rag says it all! SteveB (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: B&O V-2 Hudson Steam Engine

Hi Tom, Very nice job. I love the simple lines. Yet has plenty of detail. I guess I'm on the other end of the spectrum from Larry on that point! I am working on a 4-6-4 right now too, so I have a couple questions. Are your drivers attached to the (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

to greeble or not to greeble

(...) well, there are basically two 'kinds' of design: 1) greebled, machinery, "dirty" look 2) smooth, sleek, refined, "clean" look #1 shows up in a lot of movies like Aliens, et al where you see lots of greeblies all over everything. #2 shows up in (...) (...) Never! Wait til you see my next project :) It's in the very earliest of the design stage, but it will be BIG when it's done. No, not map mosaic big, but impressive nonetheless.   Re: Greeblies: Pros and Cons (was: New Space MOCs)

(...) My designs take in a great deal of various Sci Fi sources. Most space vehicles on TV and movies are typically fairly uncluttered, or at least have large expanses of smooth surfaces. Most likely because it's easier to make models that way. But (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.space)
