I'm building a BrickCode Reader. Basically it reads a stack of 2x2 bricks of various colors like a barcode. I've managed to hack together a prototype BrickCode Reader. If you don't mind using javascript here are a few random text generators that I found. Each page includes an example, has the script, and how to install it. Hope this helps.
