(...) Creator is fun for blowing stuff up but is not really a "design" tool. As Frank B said, LDraw is the standard in the AFOL community, stick with LDraw compatible tools and you won't go far wrong. www.ldraw.org for what's available (all of this (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)

To find doors, you can assume that they are are always on a wall. Then, to find an open door, use an edge finding algorithm to highlight the edges. Where there should be a wall, but is not, there must be a door. A closed door could be found by (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.robotics)
