(...) I checked out the web page, not all the software is loaded up yet... Looks just like what I was about to ask for, I've gotta hook a 6811 to a Vector 2X via SPI as well. Last I reported on my project, I had fried the Handyboard. The problem was (...) (28 years ago, 9-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Those reflectance sensors are not made for detecting objects, they are usually used in something like a shaft encoder. So the 5mm is the useful range that they will have for that application. Not too useful for object detection. Digikey (...) (28 years ago, 9-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) The difference is the plating. One version is plated w/ gold and the other w/ tin. The differnce is gold gives a lower contact resistance, and usually costs more. ;) If given the choice, I usualy go with the cheaper one. My projects don't (...)   IR relectance Sensors

Where is a good place to get IR relectance sensors? Also, I'm having a little trouble comprehending some specs. What is the "sensing distance". For example, (in the Mouser CAtalog) the sensing distance of as Omron optical sensor with built in (...) (28 years ago, 8-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
