    Power Functions —Dan Berladyn
Hi all, I am surprised that there isn't more discussion on this topic. LEGO introduces a new electrical system, there is some hype for a few months before it comes out and then that's it. No one seems to be discussing it, doesn't anyone have any (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic)

(...) I can see your point. I'd say the four wire system made the new bulldozer easy to control with one infra red controller. But is it not the case that each function is switched off when a the next function is activated? I personally prefer the (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic)

Well, consider the IR receiver is just one module sitting between the battery box and the motor; and nothing prevents anyone from replacing that with whatever they want; be it radio or bluetooth. Hopefully TLC will do something like that; but (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic)

The more I think about things, the more turned off I am (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic)

(...) The two added wires (power lines) provide permanent, fixed polarity supply for IR receiver. The new connector precisely ensure that no polarity reversal is possible. Without that, the IR receeiver would have needed a rectifier bridge (...) (17 years ago, 10-Oct-07, to lugnet.technic)
