Been a long time since I posted here. Also realize that this is more or less a ghost town anymore but I don’t feel like joining any other online lego community right now.

If anyone is looking, here’s my take on the Re-imagined Battlestar Galactica Viper MkII. Built in LDD. Have parts on order from bricklink and hope to post photos of the “real thing” sometime soon.

An exercise in SNOT building techniques. Has fully retractable landing gear. Cockpit has basic controls but is very cramped...

Enjoy, drc

Nice lines, great detail. Look forward to seeing it in brick.

Nice. I understand the reluctance to join another online community, but I personally think that http://www.classic-space.com is pretty good for space stuff. Even though the name is “Classic Space” pretty much all space MOC’s are welcome.

I used to post there some time ago until I got flamed for offering constructive criticism on someone’s MOC. That was before the big crash over there and I never re-registered after that. I lurk there every now and then but that place seems to be dying on the vine as well. I’m not sure where all the old .spacers are at now. I hear that alot of folks migrated to flikr.

Thanks for looking, drc

This looks gorgeous. I hope that after you build it in brick that you would be willing to share the LDD file along with actual pictures.

Cheers,

Jude

Thanks for the kind words regarding this MOC. All my bricklink orders have come in and I have updated my brickshelf gallery with photos of the real thing.

I used my UCS X-wing “scala flower pots” for engines rather than the small plastic wheels for the photos only. I think they look better but am not willing to pay the $55/piece market rate on bricklink. The model does not look bad with the wheels as engines either.

I have also posted an updated .lxf file in the gallery as well. It incorporates some slight modifications as a result of the build.

Overall the I am very happy with the way this model turned out. With all the SNOT work, it was somewhat difficult going together but is fairly solid when built. The weakest link is the single hinged 1x2 brick holding the port/starboard engine pod/wing assemblies on. As a result, the model is a bit fragile but holds together well enough to be swooshed around the room.

I am also happy with how the landing gear turned out.

I might add some hardpoints for ordnance or fuel pods in the future but I consider it largely done for now.

Thanks for looking, drc

I want 10!

Seriously, that’s as close to BSG as I think possible!

The CAD was beautiful, but this--i’m at a loss for words!

Very nicely done!
