I’m on record as being not much of a fan of schooner rigs, but... -snip- ... rebuilt the old brigantine into the fourteen gun schooner, Bleusorcière, resplendent in blue and grey paint (a la Stephen Rowe’s Scimitar):

you know, the more i look at this, i more i really like her. nicely shaped, nicely rigged....kudos to you Mr Dulin!

I thought grey wouldn’t work on a ship until I saw the Scimitar, and now having seen the effect of grey and blue in the ABS, it is a very nice colour scheme.

yeah, it actually worked out better than i had hoped initially.

And quite economical too. Grey is a common colour for the tall slopes.

yeah it is...... when i bought the red slopes for Minotaur, they were more expensive. i have seriously considered trying green, but they are hard to find, and used to be rather expensive as well (if i remember correctly, its been a long time since i went on Bricklink) i still think it would work out though :-)

thought about brown as well, kind of the unpainted look. i think done properly, with enough accenting colored bricks, it would be nice, but i dont think i can get all the brown slopes and inverse slopes i need.

(Hey! I’ve got to love the new spotlight weights. My crosspost to .announce.moc, and my own highlight, pushed the Bleusorcière to number two position on the main page for a while! It’s almost as if .pirates was popular)

:-):-)

best regards, steve
