I’m on record as being not much of a fan of schooner rigs, but there have been several examples of nice schooners on .pirates (Kurt Baty’s recent Remember the Legamo springs to mind). And, well, even in 1805, time does march on.

The old Montreuil, lying idle in Port Brique harbour and looking seriously outdated, was set upon by shipwrights eager to try their hand at a large fore-and-aft rigged vessel, and promptly cut her back to the waterline. They then rebuilt the old brigantine into the fourteen gun schooner, Bleusorcière, resplendent in blue and grey paint (a la Stephen Rowe’s Scimitar):

The SNOT bow is a direct steal from my rebuilt Reprendre, and the after section is my attempt at getting a properly ‘schoonery’ look.

Fourteen guns, combined with the handiness of a schooner, mean that the Bleusorcière seriously rivals the corvette Reprendre as the premier privateer operating from Port Brique.

looks very nice Mr Dulin! i must say that, while i generally am not turned on by schooner rigs, this one is very nicely done. the color scheme is familiar ;-) . she has a respectible armament as well, may not be an easy catch......

always enjoy seeing new ships from Port Brique.

best, steve

I thought grey wouldn’t work on a ship until I saw the Scimitar, and now having seen the effect of grey and blue in the ABS, it is a very nice colour scheme.

And quite economical too. Grey is a common colour for the tall slopes.

always enjoy seeing new ships from Port Brique.

And I always enjoy building them!

Cheers

(Hey! I’ve got to love the new spotlight weights. My crosspost to .announce.moc, and my own highlight, pushed the Bleusorcière to number two position on the main page for a while! It’s almost as if .pirates was popular)

you know, the more i look at this, i more i really like her. nicely shaped, nicely rigged....kudos to you Mr Dulin!

yeah, it actually worked out better than i had hoped initially.

yeah it is...... when i bought the red slopes for Minotaur, they were more expensive. i have seriously considered trying green, but they are hard to find, and used to be rather expensive as well (if i remember correctly, its been a long time since i went on Bricklink) i still think it would work out though :-)

thought about brown as well, kind of the unpainted look. i think done properly, with enough accenting colored bricks, it would be nice, but i dont think i can get all the brown slopes and inverse slopes i need.
