Is anyone else aware of ConTraption? The notice I rec'd in the mail on
Saturday reads as follows: Top Secret! ConTraption 2002.  June 28-30, 2002
at the Double Tree Hotel near Detroit Metro Airport in Romulus, Michigan. I
have not been to this show in the past, but perhaps it may be worth looking
into to do a Michlug display. The web address is www.contraption.org. The
email address is contraption_2002_public@yahoogroups.com. It is likely
similar to ConFusion. I do know the hotel has large conference rooms.

It tends to be smaller than ConFusion.  It's happening unusually
late this year, so it looks like I'm going to be going--not as any
part of a LUG, but just because I've been to twelve of the things
   in my lifetime already.

Yes.  Michlug had a display last year.  See:

http://news.lugnet.com/announce/?n=1132

I don't know if anyone had been thinking about doing it again this year.  I
would probably be interested.

Just to keep this list abreast of what's been said on the Yahoo! group, a
ConTraption person talked to me about us appearing there in January at the
last Con, and Scott's been in touch with them more recently and is waiting
to hear back.  There are a number of people in the group who want to do the
show, myself included.

Indeed. I am still waiting to hear back from them, I might e-mail them
again. Any thoughts on what we want to do?

Wow, a real thread is going in our Lugnet group again!  Woohoo!

At the last Con, I was talking about doing some Aquazone.  I don't think
I'll get to that this time, but we'll see.  I'm mainly going to focus on
Castle stuff.  I've got my two towers--the trees and bridges are built for
the Forestman one, and hopefully I'll get photos soon--and the inn and
shoppes from the last Con, and I expect to build a fair amount more (I'm
just not sure what yet).  It won't be as extensive as Mich-Mash, but it
should be pretty good.

Ahh, a thread here!!! RUN!!! ; )

That would be cool. I was meaning to get into some underwear things for the
future, but not right now.

Awesome! : )

Does anyone have thoughts on the next Sci-Fi display? A destroyed city
perhaps? Future wars? Something? I would like to make a really cool
spaceport, I hope to get to it soon.

Underwear?!?!?!?

I can pitch in if you need anything, I have a modest Aquazone collection.....

Oops, that was for other parts of the convention, I guess. How about
underwater? I can tell I have been typing too fast again.

Well, you can try to build something if you want. I have my train station
modules and some stuff for Contraption too. Any and all! : )

Despite my lack of attendance in the past meetings, I do plan to come to the
Contraption show, provided a large enough group goes.

I will have two or three large ships for display.  No buildings or stuff for
a colony, except a single building that would be my homebase in the
brickwarz game.

I would love to play a brickwarz game.  If Peter doesn't take the side of
the Jar Jars, I might have a go at it.  Those ears would give some wicked
hit points!

Trevor, I think you're the only one of us who owns enough Jar Jars to pull
that off.  I'm going with Blacktron I!!!  (If I had more of the orange heads
from the HP Troll on the Loose, I might try to be the Jackolanternians from
Pumpkin IV, but I don't.)

I agree with the suggestion we try Brickwarz at a meeting first... before we
embarrass ourselves in public!!

Muhhahahhahaha!!!  I think I have upwards of 120 JarJars and/or GunGun
Soldiers, plus ~30 Kaadus.  I had been collecting them up for a Episode One
diorama, which obviously I haven't got to yet.

The only other force I would really like to try out would be pirates.

Yeap, meeting first to try and get the hang of it.  I know the May meeting will
be the table building party, but are we having a June meeting?  If so, then
that might be the one to shoot for.

Hmmm, that could be interesting.  I can see it now:

Army 1--Timmies
Army 2--Jar Jars
Army 3--Ewoks
Army 4--Pirates

My guess is that pirates will win.
