This is my rendition of an ornithopter. I built it for today's Confusion
convention. Its wingspan is about 30", it seats 4 minifigs and features jointed
wings, movable tail and a passenger cabin that's able to stay level in flight
regardless of the position of the rest of the fuslage. I've taken some "humming
bird" pose pictures to demonstrate...

Wow Amy,
That's a unique rendition, or at least nothing that ever appeared in my
imagination. Is it based on the Dune movies (I only saw snippets of Lynches,
and missed the first episode of the SF series).

Amy,
I can't comment on its accuracy--it's been 12 years since I read the
original Dune books--but I love the design, particularly the cockpit glass.
I look forward to seeing it in a few hours!

I got all warm and fuzzy just reading the heading on this one - I've been
re-reading Dune over the last couple of days - it's sort of like slipping on
my comfiest old sweatshirt. Amy, what you've built is so totally divergent
from what I imagined that it just makes me appreciate even more the
old-fashioned *book* as a source of entertainment. Thanks for giving me
something new to think about while I dive into the rest of my old favorites,
then go buy the new Brian Herbert Dune trilogy. :)

That's really nice, Amy! It's a while since I've read "Dune", but it
certainly looks like what I thought an ornithopter should look like! Give
your figs a nice birds eye view of Abston, too!

Thanks, all, for your comments. This is the first vehicle I've built in 20
years, and perhaps my first ever flying vehicle. The canopy is actually the
second design I tried. The first was more conventional and ... well ... it stunk
:-) I have another unconventional idea for the caryall, but first I need a
harvester...

Wow, what a great idea! I love seeing people build things I would never
imagine to build out of Lego. Those seats look very comfortable. And that
kitty in the main picture is in for a heck of a surprise when it wakes up...
