Have you been to the new location of 'The Toy Shop of London'?  I was
talking to the owner on the phone the other day and he tells me the store • is
now about 9000 square feet.  I'm curious to stop in sometime and see it.

I have heard about it, I think someone mentioned it in an another thread...
Wonderland & fanshawe area???

Yes... if you were heading West on Fanshawe, you go through the light at
Wonderland.  It's about another 300 feet and on your right.  You will see
the sign out front.

He also mentioned his tent event that runs each summer, during which he
features LEGO models, a play area for the kids etc.  He suggested that if • I
knew of people who had large models to display that he would consider • using
them for the event.

I am definately interested in that. Should be no problem building something
that looks nice.

I was interested, but won't pursue it this year.  I'm focusing most of my
attention on getting ready for The Hobby Show.

I know Exeter fairly well.  Though it's not normally on the route from
Stratford (where I am) to London, I have been through it many times.

Stratford? Then you definately know St Marys, and maybe know of Woodham
which is on Hwy 23 right in between exeter and St Mary's. So you are about
half an hour away from me.

I would say 30 minutes or less, yup.  Maybe we should get together for
coffee sometime.  :)

I used to take Hwy 7 a lot when I went to school in Toronto, but then I
would take the shortcut through Tavistock to bypass Stratford since your
roads are crap! ;)

Ach!  I beg to differ.  With the Toronto-like property taxes we pay up here
our roads are well-maintained... and quite lovely in the summer, with all
the money the city spends on flowers... despite having massive sewer
problems.  Oh, that's another story... let's get back to LEGO.  :)

Since you are one of the types of people it was aimed at.  If you're
interested, please let me know.  :)

I actually read that before I read this, and it looks interesting and I
should be able to come out at least one of the days. For multiple days I
would have to find some accomodations and see what else may interfere.

I'm wondering...

For Brickfest, don't some people share accomodations and/or transportation?
Perhaps if we have enough interest from the London --> Stratford region, we
can talk about doing this.  I know that I'll be there from Thursday
afternoon until Sunday night.  However, I will be looking to save any money
possible.  :)

November is a long ways away...

Agreed.  And just think, I've been working on this since December.  :)

I wanted to post it early so that:

a) People could have time to build amazing models.

b) People could schedule this in.  I realize it's a full weekend and may not
work for everyone.  However... any participation at all will be welcome!

How was this weekend in stratford? We lost power for over 50 hours and
everything was coated in a 1 inch layer of ice... Right now we got snow. Was
going to go to Exeter to shop but turned around after too many whiteouts and
navigating by the tops of trees and hydropoles.

We had ice, yes.  Power outages?  No.  They save those for the summer for
some reason.  We have more brown outs during the summer months than there
are swans on the river.  :)

Brutal weather here now... for April especially.  But I think much of this
part of the country is getting the same thing, so it's nothing remarkable I
guess.  Weird though.

Great hearing from someone so close!

Hopefully we can figure out a way to get you to The Hobby Show.  What type
of building do you do?  Any posted pics we can see?

All the best,
Allan B.
