  Shining up Brasso'ed clear parts?

Hey all, I recently worked off the printing on four of the trans-dark green 1/4 saucer UFO pieces from the Insectoids Arachnoid Star Base. It worked well except I'm left with a slight pattern of whorls, much like fingerprints, which were created by (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) Solution: Water and a soft towel. It's worked wonders for all the large Blacktron II panels I needed to brasso down. -Dave (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yah, even using non-abrasives, like WD-40 (which you'd think would leave things nice and smooth) tends to eat away a bit at the plastic I've noticed. I've not tried it yet, but I've been thinking about trying to oil-rub some of these parts (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Shining up Brasso'ed clear parts?

I used a little dish soap on a soft damp bath towel. Don't use a new one or it will stink like Brasso. What you are seeing is a small film of dissolved paint and Brasso smeared around by the cotton balls. The dish soap will keep the paint from (...) (23 years ago, 10-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) AAAAH! You Brasso(tm)ed Blacktron II panels??? You were joking, right? I'd trade plain for printed in a heartbeat. ++Lar (23 years ago, 11-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

I guess I shouldn't mention that I plan to do this as well with the four extra panels I have. The hard part is getting three more of the trans-antifreeze giant 1/4 dome pieces from the Mega Core Magnetizer so I can make a complete dome. Dave "Larry (...)   Re: Shining up Brasso'ed clear parts?

(...) If I could have gotten plain Trans antifreeze panels, I wouldn't have felt the need to brasso the BTII ones. Unfortunately, most folks won't trade these easily. I wouldn't normally care, but it's the only large panel color I work with. Had I (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Shining up Brasso'ed clear parts?

(...) Hmmm....So you're the one who keeps beating me to the trans-antifreeze corners, huh? It's a tough part to get, but they occasionally show up on Brickbay (not often enough, though). Good luck getting 3 more. I've been working on it for a year (...) (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Shining up Brasso'ed clear parts?

You've got one more than me, and one of the ones I have belongs to the MCM I have, so I really only have one. Dave "Dave Johann" <legomecha@home.com> wrote in message news:GMoA7y.JEJ@lugnet.com... (...) I don't know that I necessarily do. Did I miss a trade announcement though? I surely would have checked to see... (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.general)
