Best Regards, Bryan & Adam Co-coordinators for Brickworld

And that’s my problem with this event....

and with the direction many of the AFOL events have been leaning. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids, and want them to know how cool LEGO is. I worked for LEGOLAND so I could show them. But I don’t pay $70 plus hotel, plus two or three days off work for that.

I miss when our events were about the community coming together and playing. And I have to say I take some offense to paying a registration fee to an event that then uses mine and others’ creations to draw a public crowd and charge admission. If the registration fees were going down in cost, I wouldn’t peep. But they seem to be rising with the more public days the event allows.

We are near a paradigm shift with events. Soon it will be time to hold huge expos of AFOL creations to the public. Separately from (perhaps smaller, more regional) insiders conventions. We’re not there yet, but it (should be) is coming...

Aaron

Sigh...I don’t know what is that makes you continually speak out of ignorance. It’s no secret though, where your thinly veiled bias lies. Your stance is already public record.

Nice venues and cost money. New events don’t have the luxury of drawing on the resources of the previous year. NWBrickon has had two public days in the past yet I don’t see you railing against that.

Don’t look for things to pick at just because you already prescribe to some contrived notion of what started Brickworld and killed Brickfest DC.

Different events have different formats. You have a choice to attend which ever event you wish or disregard what you don’t. Don’t complain about an event you aren’t going to attend unless you plan on trying and improve things.
