Hi all,
...snip... • should mention that
the scale is all wrong for Lego and the sets are aimed at the very young,
three to six yrs, sort of a couple of steps up from Duplo, detail wise, and a
few steps down from Lego,) actually, just about perfect for my three yr old
son, who loves the Lego minifigs, especially those with guns and swords, (and
so has lost interest in Duplo, no weapons!)

Despite using larger pieces, I believe Playmobil is still aimed at the same
ages as LEGO System. Playmobil 1-2-3 is the DUPLO equivlant. What I like about
Playmobil is, as you mentioned, variety. Thier current Town range even
includes a cafe. Over the years, they have really changed, however, while LEGO
has changed for the worse, Playmobil has not. I do have many, many Playmobil
sets (well, actually, my son does). At least 20+, mostly from 1994, and I do
like Playmobil's for thier variety (I remember the old Playmobil Fishing Boat,
and the city bus set) and, also, thier VERY long life span (this one set, a
blue family car, has been in production for the longest time. I think since
1989. Another set, an Ambulance, has also been around for about the same time.
The average Playmobil set will last five to eight years). In fact, the other
day at TRU I was in the LEGO asile, which is also were you find Playmobil sets
and all Playmobil's were marked down 66% plus an additional 50% off of that
(check your local TRU, they were some great Playmobil bargains). I had to buy
some. I ended up buying a hot dog cart ($2.90), a little farm hut ($3), the
blue family car ($4) and a big ambulance ($5). They are cute, and I will
continue to buy the occasional Playmobil, though LEGO is still number one in
my book.

Hi all, At the risk of being jumped on simultaneously, by thousands of AFOL's (or having thousands of Timmy's thrown at me) I just finished having a look at the playmobil site, and came away with much food for thought. Firstly I was struck with the (...) (24 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.general)
