Great Idea Eric. I also think that 4811 is a great set for armies. Very
interesting ideas!

Well this is a simple idea really but it came out pretty cool IMHO.  I
will get pictures up in my next round of pictures but that might not be
for a week or two and I wanted to share this.

I used the Gungan Soldier torso from 7115 - Gungan patrol

http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=7115-1

This is not Jar-Jars torso but the green soldiers torso.  I took off the
arms and replaced them with Green ones with yellow hands.  I used green
legs.  For the head I used the King Leo head with a white beard piece
and the Green Wizards hat.  To finish him off I used a Dark Gray staff /
lightsaber blade from one of the STAP's topped with a lightsaber hilt
and a Green Gem.

I think he looks pretty cool so he will probably be the third addition
to my characters page.

Also, I think someone may have mentioned this before but, I tried using
the mummies torso from the Adventure's sets as a soldier and it works
pretty well.  I used Black legs and black helmet.  I also used yellow
hands instead of the red ones.

I do not paint figs but I have no problem ripping off arms, hands, legs,
or hips and replacing them and I have found it can really add variety
for figs.

P.S.  I picked up a few 4811's last night and I highly recommend this
set for building your army.  The only thing it does not have is a sword
which I would have liked.  Then all the other parts are good to have
even in quantity except for maybe the 4x4 turntable which is a good part
but not something I need tons of.

Where did you find them? Does TCS carry them?

Yes that's where I got them.  They have quite a few left too ;-).  They are
polybags and can be found at the front of the store.

For those that don't know TCS is "The Construction Site" located in Waltham
Massachusetts.  They do have a web site although you can not order directly on
line because they don't meet TLC requirements for selling on the internet :/ .
You can order things via e-mail though and all the infomation you need can be
found on their web site.

(Yes we love to plug them because they are wonderful and have the best store in
the entire world ;-) .

Do any of the new sets have extra swords?  Actually, it looks like their is a
lack of swords in the new castle line so far.  Am I right in seeing that the
Joust set only has 1 for 3 figs?  Another strike against castle jr.

Yes, there is only 1 sword in the Joust, 2 lances, 4 shields, 2 poleaxes, 1
spear and 1 axe.
Not so bad, there are quite a few weapons, just not the one you want.
King Leo's Castle has 3 silver swords, 2 or 3 of the small ones and various
others.  We'll probably see more weapons if they release a minifig pack.

Hm, Anyone know about Availablility of 4811 at other places, for those
such as I that are on the West Coast and Mail order is a hassle (Nice,
but preferably avoided at times).

Does The Construction Site have a special deal to have gotten them
early, or just lucky?

-Michel
(As a side note, while this makes sense for 4811 due to the name, etc
What is with the number of sets w/ Crossbows this year? That is - when I
went into my dark ages, crossbows hadnt really made their rounds (if
they existed at all).. Previous to the 2000 sets I had *one* crossbow.
Now, with The Catapult crushers, axe cart, etc, I must have like
10098340909.5![Yeah, the half one is a mystery to me too. ;) )
(Though, if I could get appropriate matching figs, a big xbow regiment
or something could be nice, *shrug*)

I dunno if they have a special deal, because I've seen the 4811s at other
places here in MA as well...(Ames maybe?) I think that a lot of big chain
stores don't order the polybag stuff right away, and soem don't order them
at all.

Well, the 4811 will help there, too!  Although I like the torso a lot for
plate armored knights - it's so detailed.  Almost as cool as the removable
armor...my kettle helms are going to go to ground troops instead...
