The next installment in my Entrance to the Caves series is now finished:
Forgotten Beacon
Im really quite proud of this model. There is a lot of detail, a new curved
tower technique, and some fairly impressive caves...
Also, the accompanying story page is now available:
NTbricks.com/Tales.html
And in case you missed the beginning:
Comments and critiques appreciated!
God Bless,
Nathan

That's cool. And great.
I like the surface structure of the snow. The shape of the caves is also well
done.
Bye

Sorry, I cannot make out from the pictures you have posted what the new
technique is. Do you have some more detailed or WIP shots?
The only thing I can make out is it looks like wedge-shaped pieces forming part
of the top of the tower (I think).

Sorry, there should be a better pic, but I dont have any of the construction
ones with me at the moment. this should give
the best view. Essentially it is a circle formed by right 2x4 wedges, laid on a
circle formed of left 2 x 4 wedges, etc. The wedges each connect to the one
directly above them to form columns, which are themselves held in the circular
shape by the friction of the wedges overlap on each other.

Nathan

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Very nice! I accidentally found out that stacks of the wedge bricks in an
alternating left-right stack would fit together about a month ago, but I haven't
used the technique yet. I've never seen loose bricks used as running water, but
I must admit that it looks perfect in that cave.

Thanks! I was dubious at first myself, but once I saw the finished effect I
couldnt remove them again...

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These are so awesome! So much to consider in terms of construction, wow, that
has got to be a lot of building time and effort to complete these! I was looking
over the "Entrance to the cave" and I am very impressed. Fantastic work!
This picture with the path, in the "Forgotten Beacon"...WOW Coool!

Im so glad you liked that one in particular! I was dueling it out with a mate
who said that that picture let the rest down, and I should leave it out. I
couldnt help but love the off light though, so it stayed ; )
Thanks again and God Bless,
