  Re: Cross-stitch patterns

(...) Yes, I have used cross-stitch patterns to create LEGO studs-out mosaic patterns. The ones that have just the large thread diagonal type patterns work best. (The ones with the thin thread outlines are quite tricky to transform into a LEGO (...) (15 years ago, 26-Feb-09, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

  Re: Mosaic Conversion Program

(...) It's a pity because it looked really interesting. I'm only just starting to look into mosaic building and application looks simple, straightforward and effective. Jetro (15 years ago, 19-Jan-09, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Mosaic Conversion Program

@ Jetro and Luis: My mosaic conversion program only looks like a finished product, but it isn't. And that's why you can't find it online. It's not meant for you, it's meant for me: I intend to make more mosaics in the future. Maybe I should have (...) (15 years ago, 19-Jan-09, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Mosaic Conversion Program

Hi all, I recently rewrote my program to convert images to a LEGO- or ministeck-mosaic. You can find a complete discription of how it works on (URL) my webpage>. I'll have to make a (big) new mosaic with it soon, don't you think... Thanks for (...) (15 years ago, 18-Jan-09, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.build, lugnet.build.mosaic, lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Dali's Persistence of Memory

Hey there, Arthur, I don't know how many people out there are familiar with Dali's artwork -- but I am. You did a very nice job, especially given the limited resolution imposed by such a small Lego mosaic. (16 years ago, 30-Oct-08, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Mona Lisa

(...) Jason, Using MS Paint, I made and saved about 140 drawings of circles of various colors atop squares of various colors. I omitted combinations where the pieces were rare (1 x 1 orange plates, 1 x 1 round green plates, etc. ) After I saved all (...) (16 years ago, 27-Jul-08, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

  Re: Mona Lisa

(...) Very impressive. I hadn't seen this technique before, it rocks. Did you use a computer program to help you decide which color to use for the 1x1 rounds and the plate beneath or...? Jason Spears | (URL) BrickCentral> | (URL) MichLUG> (16 years ago, 26-Jul-08, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

  Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa uses a pointillist style that I first saw in Roy Cook’s Aayla Secura Pointillist Mosaic winner of best mosaic at Brickfest 2006. My method differs slightly from Roy’s. Roy attached his 1x1 round plates to Technic bricks. I attached my (...) (16 years ago, 24-Jul-08, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build, lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

Tiny Cartman Mosaic, mostly from set 6163

I was bored yesterday, and decided to finally put my recent clearance purchase (set #6163) from Target to use, making a (small 16x16) Eric Cartman Mosaic: (2 URLs) All the pieces (except the tan pieces) are from the 6163 set.   Re: How to color a source image for building a mosaic?

(...) Hi Maarten, Many thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I'm no programmer, but I think that it would be possible to perform the calculations you describe in a spreadsheet, if provided with the RGB values for each pixel in the image. I do (...) (16 years ago, 18-Jan-08, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

Re: How to color a source image for building a mosaic?

(...) Tony, I don't think there's any kind of software that can do just that for you; you'll need some programming skills to do it yourself: Just suppose you want to make a grayscale mosaic --> 5 colors --> 20% of each color. Calculate the "degree (...) (16 years ago, 17-Jan-08, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

How to color a source image for building a mosaic?
