I have been away from Lugnet for quite a while but continued to build.  Check
out some cool space stuff...

First up is the Ice Planet 2002 moonbase Gas Extraction and Storage Facility
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/ip2002ge2.jpg>>

Started as an L corridor to go between two other moonbases and a way to use all
the snowboard ramp pieces I picked up around christmas time.  I really like the
way the Bionicle lids / Gas containers worked out.  In fact I liked it so much I
made these...

<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/wgt2.jpg>>

Made to transport Ice Planet Mined Gasses around where wheeled vehicles won't
do, the Walking Gas Transport (WGT or widget) can get where you need your gasses
to go.  Don't mistake all those projections on the front for weaponry those are
for attaching to Gas Mining Equipment and such.

I also have been working on new minifig species.

There's the Snouts
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/snouts.jpg>>
and the Rubbandians
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/rubbandians.jpg>>
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/gemeyes.jpg>>
the Naclio
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/naclios.jpg>>
And George
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/george.jpg>>

These guys got me very excited because they all need ships and speeders and
such.  But I also wanted to keep going with the Aliens.  But I wanted to make
them without the minifig body and these are the result.

<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/geareyes.jpg>>
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/clawbrix2.jpg>>
<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/mranogard2.jpg>>

and there's more on the way.

What are the gas storage containers made out of?  The bottom half of these look
vaguely like the top of a Bionicle storage container.  Is that right?  What's
the top half?

I also like your alien species.

Thanks,
Jeff

Seconded on the alien species.

I don't have any Bionicle on hand to check, but I *think* the containers are
part Toa Nuva lid and part Toa Metru lid.

Hey Ptrick!
Very Cool! I really like what you did with container lids!!
(I'm going to have to incorporate that into some building some time soon.)

made these...

<<http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/nnubtap/feb2005/tanker1.jpg>> • Older Robo Riders lid, right?
Nice work with the Bionicle Toa Metru and Toa Nuva lids!

And the Alien species...Are a riot! Nice work!
Cheers!

Welcome back!

This is the stuff, man:

The bigger aliens are cool too, but the various rubber band-headed guys are the best.

That bionicle lid combination works really well. I can see why you reused the idea. The spiders are great... and are possibly the only good model I’ve ever seen that uses the angled octagonal cockpit frame well. On the moonbase, the equipment on the ground made of stacked cylinders is great. I like that better than the bionicle lid things for heavy machinery. The gun or radar thing on top of the hallway is very nice too.

Oh, wow.  These have the same undefinable charm as the aliens encountered in the
1980 Legoland idea book <<http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6000>>.  Fantastic,
Patrick!

Spotlighted for the alien work alone. These are classic guys that we all should
use in our own work (and give credit to Patrick).

Hey,

Very cool and innovative part usage, esp the Bionicle lid things and the
rubberbandians.
