The weekend before BrickFest, the GA was sharing his Grand Spiffcraft with me, and I was inspired to create my own giant Spiffcraft. I originally planned on doing only a minifig version, but my brother encouraged me to create a scale Spaceman Spiff for the ship. So, I built both. The different interiors easily swap out of the center section.

   The Spiffcraft

I built the whole thing in two days and two evenings to complete it in time to bring it to BrickFest. Details include landing gear which is entirely geared together so that all the legs move simultaneously, fiberoptic engines, retracting guns (an idea obviously stolen from Mark), and a loading ramp that hinges down from the ship.

Please LMKWYT! Comments, questions, criticisms, etc encouraged.

This is incredibly good Bram. I love it. The interchangable interiors is the icing on the cake. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a MOC that runs on 2 different scales. Amazing.

And to think this whole thing came from your opinion that I should have used the big domes on my Grand Spiffcraft :)

I like it. You incorporated features like triple landing gear and a ramp which I sacrificed for interior details and rooms. Cool.

I like the probe. Did you add that since BF?

Thank, Mark. I liked yours more after I saw all the pictures and the real thing at BrickFest than from the initial teasers.

No, it hasn’t changed since BrickFest.

Love it. Now all you need to do is figure out how to change the shape of
the goggles for each picture...

Bram, awesome. Like Jon said, the fact that this works on two scales is really cool. And as much as I love the minifig scale stuff, that Spaceman Spiff just takes it. Great job.

It’s two, two, two models in one!

Seriously, the choose-your-own interior option is amazing...and the fact that they both look completely native to the craft.

Great stuff!

Bram,

Beautiful design, and very clever that you can swap out the interior to have either a Calving and Hobbes sculpture or a minifig ship. My favorite detail is probably the expression on Spiff’s face. Priceless.

Wow! both modes are excellently done, & the fact that you made both modes alone is great! Spiffbot rocks!

Bram,

Bill Watterson would be proud! This is fantastic. I much prefer the Calvin version than the minifig version. More true to the original. I wish I had the ability to do landing gear like that. My brain doesn’t think mechanically that well. Wow. What a ship. Keep up the good designs!

I do too, but I also like the extra details I was able to add in the minifig version. I’m particularly pleased with the entry ramp.

Landing gear *is* very difficult to do like this. Mine is closely designed after the gear on

Hi Bram

Wow! Your spaceships looks pretty cool and very well build.

Once again it is proven that you can actually build some pretty round shapes using the rather “blocky” lego bricks.

I like all those little gadgets ... the fiber optic should be a must for every space craft, hehe ...

And the Spaceman Spiff figure is simply awesome!
