I'm gonna go with 6086 Black Knight's Castle.  It just has it all.

This is an announcement for the next UK LEGOFest which will be situated in
Redditch.

Count me In. At last...

I have a pre-booking on a Church Hall which we can have all day - the hall is
quite big and there is a Kitchen , Lounge-type area and a whole Bungalow of
rooms should they be needed.  The Church Leader has yet to give me a cost
although I think it will be minimal - just to cover the cost of heating and
electricity.

Plans for the event:

Monster Train Layout
"What voltage shall we have?"
"All of them!" Jon D Hayward.
I have 4.5V blue and 12V grey track and a lot of additional sets.

I have a couple hundred 9volt tracks
A metroliner and club car
A 3225 classic, 4563 & 4564 goods trains, misc wagons, including blue hoppers,
a 7722 4.5 volt
level crossings and my Metro Station Plus (on my web site)

Space Base
This is a second attempt at something that was tried a LEGOFest III: The
NorthWest Fest, I have 10 packs of Blacktron-2 Landing plates, a 6991 Unitron
Monorail and all those crater plates I've been getting from previous Fests.

I have some crater plates, plus I have my now completed near 100 stud long
large space/military vehicle. (the front of which is on my web site, I have
now completed similar sized trailer housing mechs, vehicles, etc)

Totem Pole/Tower
I won't be organising this bit but the height of hall is taller than Tony's
stairwell and we have step ladders to put on the top sections.  I won't have
the bricks to build transistional sections like Tony could.

Trading and 'Show and Tell' Areas
One of the complaints from previous Fests was the lack of space to separate
trade items from items people had brought to show people - I hope to be able • to
provide separate tables for this but I know people will just fill the space :- • )

Exterior visits
I think I may try to organise an expedition to Bromsgrove where there is a
seller who sells LEGO Parts in bags - I've seen Thatcher-Perkin wheels in some
of these bags, there is also a local toy shop which has some accessories packs
and older small sets such as Western.

How to get there?
The church is situated by Redditch's main bus and train station as well as
roads - I'll post maps etc. to a website - who is in charge of
http://come.to/legofest at the moment as I'll give you an URL to redirect to.

Overnight Accomodation
Unfortunately I can't provide accomodation since my house is so small (if • there
was 1 or 2 I may be able to wrangle something), there are Travelodge's nearby
and a few local hotels which I'll get details of if necessary.

* Basically what I need to find out now is how many people can make this event
so I can confirm the booking *

So count me in, my 12 year old son will come too.
Regards
Lawrence

QC question

Hi!

I have given QC a try and noticed that after shutting the RCX off and
restarting it, one does not go back to the QC application, but the ROM routines
are in control. I suppose some vectors have to be adjusted in order to not let
that happen?

thank you

I haven't noticed anybody mentioning this, so I will.
I wandered into Argos yesterday and noticed a half-price toy sale, on many
items.

Thanks for the tip.
Picked up the Sith at half price, a droid fighter.
They had some town and rock raiders too, but I wasnt interested.

Very annoying, as you comment, that none of this stuff was 'advertised' in any
way. You only found out if you punched in the numbers to their stock checker.
Not all sets were reduced, and many were out of stock.

Trying to understand dynamic loading

Hi!

Could anyone please explain a little how the dynamic loading facility works in
legOS? I don't seem to get at full grip on it... and I can't test it either,
right now...

Is there a loader on the RCX?
Can apps be downloaded to the RCX whithout reloading the kernel too?
How about having several apps running simultaneously?
Are the apps tailored to a specific kernel build (by means of GENLDS)?

In other words, when downloading the kernel, does it wait then for an app, more
or less like the original firmare?

thanks

Ciao

http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=4539-1

Gli assi filettati credo che siano solo lì (ma non sono sicuro).

I found one today at Target for $50!  Also got 4 DDKs for $25 each.

I cleaned out every target in the area (4 of them) except for the one that
had 6 DDKs at %59.90.  I will get them next week when they hit $25.  My wife
is supposed to get the ones down in Visalia/Hanford today.

Mike

Mindstorms for $50 US!

Mike, Target blowouts are just unbelievable.  I wish they would enter
the Canadian market and offer similar sales.

Barracudas. God, I wish Legos were as cheap here as thay are in the US!!

WTF??? Black seas baracudas still new in a toystore???

WTF??? Caribbean Clippers still new in a toystore???

This is Argentina we're talking about here--not only are they expen$ive as all
get out, most people don't have the money to buy them.  However, I'm surprised
that you found them in Buenos Aires rather than in a smaller city, because I'd
expect that if they sold anywhere it would be in the capital.

best,

Lindsay

What is so hard about getting these items? If I had $135 and I wanted a carribian
clipper then this place sounds better than ebay because there is no way you can be
outbid at the last minute. How come people from the US have not been asking
freinds in argentina and other similar places to get these sets for them:
us friend sends them the money to but it, argineinian buys it for them and then
mails it to the us. What else would someone in the us have to pay on top of the
$135 to get this (other than money paied to the person who is buying it for them,
for their troubles etc) How much would the postage be? Are there any hidden taxes
on top of the $135?

Also to the person who found these, out of interest, how much are the BSB's
selling for?

Ciao

As some of you may have noticed, I have had some problems making my 2951
behave.
Out of frustration I made some changes to the hi-res 1-8disc.dat, and lo and
behold, suddenly everything worked.
Now, the weird thing is that there was nothing wrong with 1-8disc. It was made
with type 4 lines, where the low-res version was made with type 3 lines, but
if you think about it, it makes perfect sence, you can do the 6 type 3 lines
with 3 type 4 lines.
Well, just out of desperation I substituted these 3 type 4 lines with 6 type 3
lines, and there it was, now everything looks quite nicely.

Here's the new 1-8disc.dat with the old lines commented out:

Hi

I apologize I have made some mistake in the previous message, this is the right
text :)

I have a 6991 monorail transport base to sell or trade. The set
is factory sealed, brand new, box substantially perfect.

   6991 Monorail  (1994), Min. 250$

I will sell the set to the best offer (over the minimum) I receive from now
to January 30th. This is NOT an auction, I won't post any update here. This
is a straight sale for the best offerer. Please keep in mind that your
offer
does not include shipping from Italy (where I live), which is to be payed
by
the buyer. I charge shipping at the bare cost, no surcharge or handling
fees. Due to size and weight estimated shipping cost to USA will range from
$20 uninsured surface to $50 for full insured fast airmail (UPS like)

If you live in the US,  or in a country in which Larry has a
factoree preferred payment method is a check in USD to Larry
   P. (http://my.voyager.net/lar/factor_desc.html), or a postal money order to
   my address

Please email your offer to: arcmberti@dinet.it

I may also consider to trade it for a a 6285 MISB or a 6286 MISB

   Thanks

I have to admit that the first time I saw the Throwbots in the store, I
thought "How dippy. I'll _never_ get those." Of course, I have all eight of
them now, and I'm looking forward to the new ones... I'm starved for
information. Thanks for the heads-up, Karl! Are there any shots of the
Millennium Slizer?

-Cheese

That's the same way I felt, but then i liked them, and then I didn't, and now
I do! Get it? I'm kinda confused about it all. It's great to see someone
showing some concern for the throwbots around here. Sure they got the stupid
arm, but that can go, and then they're pretty cool! There's a picture of the
Millennia Throwbot, he's mostly grey, on a big red motorbike. It's pretty
crappy. And for $22, he's pretty expensive crap. As for information, the 3
others are:
Flare - a black and orange bat with an arm for a tail. IMHO he's the best of
them all. He uses the new technic panels (coloured orange) for wings.

Spark - A regular style throwbot in purple and black. He uses the technic
panel as some kind of hand/gun.

Blaster - he's hard to explain. First of all, he's got a price tag of $16, so
he's pretty big. He's yellow and black. On one arm, he's gottwo of the
throwing arms. His legs are assembled with 2 of the arm/leg pieces on each
leg. his feet are upsidedown throwbot heads. I don't think i'll be getting
this one.

Hope this helps! I might be able to scan some of these guys on Tuesday, and
email them to you. LMK if you need them.

Which is the best Lego castle set ever? I wonder if it is 6090 Royal Knight's
Castle.... But some mid 80s to early 90s sets are very good indeed (from what
I manage to appreciate in on-line catalogs). Too bad that was my Dark Age....

Regards!
